you are not alone
millions and millions of students are facing the same problems.
they ace in writing extended essays, but failed in the comprehensions.
you just have to keep practising
there is no other way to get out of it

I was in the same boat as you are in now. I'm chinese, and immigrated to Canada at the age of 5 (I'm 23 now). And as you know, chinese parents aren't exactly the most normal people in the world, so mine were in complete denial when my teachers started moving towards the fact that I may be dyslexic. Turns out, that I am and I found out when I was 18. Suffice it to say, their decision not to listen did more damage than good and now, I doubt that I'll be able to go to university without having some serious learning issues. (That and I don't want to waste my money on failing.)

Now, all that said, I think you should get yourself checked out on that because, even after almost 20 years here, I still have trouble with college essays. And to hell with what your parents say or think about the situation. You have to do this for yourself. Good luck.

Don't listen to the people saying you have some sort of disorder. Perhaps education just isnt your strong-suit. But I do have a suggestion. Find some sort of workbook at a teacher's store. Or you could ask you Language Arts teacher for some extra help. I'm sure he/she'd help.

Well, firstly, you have to read a lot. Understand what you are reading. Im sure that your grammar is O.K. Secondly, speak in English as much as you can. Speak with your family, friends, whoever!!! The most important thing is ask your teacher how she/he marks the papers. Don't be shy to ask. Your teacher is your friend, unless he/she is your dad/mom! LoL!!!

Take my advise, It defenitely works!

try to increase your interest.
You need background in lots of subjects to understand.
You need comprehension books to make practise.
if you need more details, write me.
