The best proof that your concept of god does not exist, is that time is part of the universe. If the universe did not exist, neither would time. Yet the very act of creation requires that time already exist. This is a clear contradiction, which means the universe was not created, which means there is no creator.
Other than that, it's just a matter of rational thought. What reasons do you have to believe in gods? If you can't think of any compelling evidence that supports the idea, then why do you believe? Do you need a disproof of leprechauns before it's valid to not believe in them? What about fairies, ghosts, aliens, Nessie, bigfoot, Thor, Superman, Santa, etc.

Well, the belief of god was very much man made. Stretching far back man has created many gods and many have lost their popularity. There is no real difference in this wave of monotheistic gods. None talk directly to their followers, but instead instruct them via a 2000 year old book rewritten and retranslated millions of times.
God(s) have been an excuse from science for a millenia. And way back in the beginning the cavemen wondered what has created the universe. They dreamt up a million gods. As science advanced we lost gods, we learnt the sun was not apollo, but a ball of gas, we learnt thunder was not thor, but a reaction of the clapping of displaced air. Well now is the age of modern science and all gods have been disproved accept the great creator god. But as this god is being disproved to we can hardly accept it and fight tooth and nail against (the ID verse Evolution debate).
Well following patterns I can hardly believe in this god either, nothing makes it different from apollo or zeus. It is the last god on its way to be executed in modern science.

depends of your concept of god if you think god is an old guy with a white beard sitting on a cloud. or a fat guy who likes to get his belly rubbed. or a six armed guy with an elephant head.
well then you need to get an IQ higher than 110 and it will happen.
then watch the news, can you really find an explanation to every crappy thing that happens in this world? i mean besides the "the lord ways are mysterious" study some astronomy and tell me in what part of the bible did they mention that? or the Koran or elsewhere? it is so reassuring and re freshening to believe that there is somebody that controls your life and one day will pity you and treat you better but its not happening. so get busy and take control of your life instead of waiting for god to manifest.

The hyperlinks the other answerers have given are great, but for your information, you cannot unproof something. You cannot proof that something is not there unless you can give properties of that thing. But god for one has cannot be given properties because many religions believe in many different things. Please tell me if this is the case, how can one proof that there is no god? Again, you cannot proof that something is unexistent unless you know the characteristics of that thing. To know the characteristics, that thing should exist first!

Which god are you trying not to believe in? There are many religions and spiritual beliefs so what if you haven't found the one that's right for you, the one that fits you into the world with the gods? I, for one, couldn't put up with all that guilt, sin and son of god stuff in Christianity. I discovered animism and found one that works for me.

The fact of the matter is you probably don't believe in the right thing or you wouldn't be thinking about doing something wrong. God sent His son to die for you who are a sinner because if you think to sin in your heart you've done it. He died for all mankind. Now you can choose to accept that free gift because you can not do anything to redeem yourself from sin then you must accept that Jesus died for you. If you do not then your choice is to reject Him and rejecting him is what keeps you from heaven.
I hope you will choose Him. I hope you will choose life.

Are you okay honey? What do you mean by "because it would be better right now, in something I am about to do, to NOT believe"?
Are you going to hurt yourself or others?
If this is what's on your mind, seek help right away. Whether or not there is a god makes no difference right now.

I'm sorry you want to be convinced there is no God. I believe in this case, you can't be convinced. You might want to NOT believe, but I see that you are conviced otherwise. Please follow what your heart tells you. I am sorry for the troubles you are having right now. Remember you are not alone.

Believing is the opposite of not believing. They are the two sides of a coin. Both are hindrances to discovery of God. I think to discover the "not true about God" is to discover God. Remember "Not True" is the product of our limited mind.
