I'm not sure about a snake, but I have had Mezcal, which has an agave worm in it. I guess it is supposed to enhance the flavor or something. I wrecked my car the time I ate the worm. That was in my dumber days.

Hmmm. Was it at a Chinese restaurant/bar? I was in a silk store in Northern China and they had several jugs of herbs and branches, or sticks depending on the size of the jug, with snakes wrapped around the branches in a clear liquid. I asked what it was and was told vodka! I had a shot and it was OK. Then I had to have another shot because my friend would only do it if he saw me do it.

Actually, it was probably a maguey worm (a/k/a agave worm) in a bottle of mezcal, not tequila. The worms are edible, and are considered a delicacy in some parts of Mexico, but are just a marketing gimmick in this instance. Look up "maguey worm" in Wikipedia. See also "mezcal."

I've never heard of a snake in a jug of tequila. But, I've seen a chinese liquor that had a large salamander in it.

(I wonder if it's kosher....)

You can have your pick of snake, gecko or scorpion. Snake whiskey goes down smooth; like a slithering serpent down your throat, gecko whiskey has legs; much like a good glass of wine, and scorpion whiskey has a good strong sting to it.

I've seen a scorpion in one of my friends wine bottles. Apparently, your supposed to drink it when you get married and it has something to do with getting pregnant too. Some weird type of culture.

They just want to prove that their drinks are the best, even when there's dead wildlife floating around in them.
