Well, most atheists start believing in SOMETHING the moment their own life is in danger. Can't promise what that will be, mind you. I'm a pagan and it isn't that I don't believe in God, it's that there are many gods and I follow different ones. God's commandment to His people "you shall have no other gods before me" proves that there are other gods, doesn't it? Or what was He jealous of? But that was a command for His people- of whom I am not.

First off Atheist are not Pagan and Pagans are not Atheists. Secondly which god? I acknowledge the Christian, Jewish, and Islamic God as a real god, but whether it is the Creator or not is open for debate. Thirdly you (nor myself for that matter) are not God (the Creator), and therefore cannot say what is real or is not real. Heck some Christians over a century ago thought the Earth had been around for only five thousand years, but now we know it to be far older than that given time frame. I refuse to believe in something that tells me that only a certain group of people will enter paradise while everyone else will suffer in eternal damnation. What did Gandhi ever do wrong? Is he damned to hell for not believing in your God? If you are right then I will bow before the Creator and take what ever punishment I deserve, but if I am right then I will be reborn here on Eath or where ever the Creator wills and deal with it.

A former Christian and now a one deeply respectful Pagan.

Pagans and atheists are not the same thing.

Pagans believe in a God. Atheists do not.

Atheists don't believe in anything.

My guess is that you could probably convert an atheist to Christianity by theatening them with loss of life as was done during the dark ages. That might work.

Forcing them out of their work and harassing them socially are techniques that have been used down through history including even in today's world in certain parts of the USA.

I'm sure you must know of a way to convert atheists. Christianity is full of abusive techniques to do that.

But while you are thinking of ways to convert atheists, don't you think you should consider the question as to why it bothers you so much that you feel the need to convert them? What is it about Christianity that cannot tolerate non-believers?

An Atheist isn't a Pagan. Pagans believe in deities of some form, but Atheists don't believe in any divine power.

You're confused. Pagans DO believe in God.
As for Atheists, well, it's not your business to change their minds. It's extremely disrespectful to try.

I spent over 30 years satisfying my beliefs regarding God and came to the conclusion no evidence supports such a belief.

There is nothing anyone can write, say, or do short of walking on water and raising the dead on a repeated, controlled basis (or the equivalent) that would change my mind.

I didn't become an atheist because someone told me it would make me feel good, or because of some vague promises about answered prayers, or an eternal afterlife.

I became an atheist because there is no other logical conclusion. Same reason most intelligent, logical, & analytical people are atheists.

I concur with some of the comments, are you asking what it takes to convert an atheist or to convert a pagan? Being two completely separate ideals of course, I would say unless the person is openly looking to convert, the answer would be that you cannot Make them convert.

I am Pagan, I am not Atheist. I do not follow a Christian God, that does not mean I don't believe in God.

Firstly...atheist and pagan are not the same thing...

And whatever we believe is our business. Can you not see how these kinds of questions might be rude? I mean, what if I asked what it would take for you to change your mind and stop believing in fairy tales? Generally I don't ask those kinds of questions, except in cases like this when a rude question is asked first.

The same as it would take a devoted Christian to STOP believing in god. The person would have to WANT to change and maybe physical proof. I'm a militant Agnostic/Atheist. I don't know if there is a god. And you don't either. I believe that if there is a god, fantastic. If not, that's ok, too. Personally, I don't believe there is one and nothing short of scientific proof, will change that.
