Not to sound like a politically incorrect jerk--but I would want to know if he were Catholic or Islamic--both religions are common in Lebanon.
While I have no generic prejudice against Islam--i.e. live and let live for the most part--the principles as practiced in most countries don't mesh well with my own culture and religion--particularly with respect to freedom and equality for women.
Sure, it's only a first date--but I don't believe in wasting someone's time when there's the potential for major conflicting values down the line. For example--I would never date a Bush supporter. Sorry to sound harsh--but being male and female is already opposite enough without adding more fuel to the fire.

seems like it would be important to know that no one likes to be judged or evaluated on the basis of their race or nationality--so you could stop referring to him as a 'lebanese man' and start referring to him as 'my date.'
i'm sure that if you tell him that you don't know much about lebanese culture and that you're interested in what he has to tell you about it, he'll be flattered.

I don't think you should judge him based on his heritage, however, it would make sense to observe him for obvious cultural differences that could cause problems down the road. Good luck and have fun!

Things that are important to know:
His name
His marital status
What he likes to eat
What he looks like (so you can find him!)
What time he will pick you up, or where and when you'll meet him.
Think that's all you need to know before you go out...you can find out everything else during dinner!

Hummm. Try him and judge for yourself after. I bet, you can get a better perception of him, and he a better perception of you, too. It's worth because people need to communicate and understand each other's culture. You could be another ambassador of peace.

Exactly the same as with any man - Is he married!!!
Other than that, his nationality should not be an issue, perhaps his religion would be if that sort of thing is important to you.

I'd just go and enjoy the night. Please don't convert to Islam over it though!
