i just got my ear pierced and i have heard sayings before that eating seafood will cause it to be infected.. how true is that?

Seafood has plentiful amounts of the trace element zinc which promotes rapid healing. What you've heard is obviously an "old wives' tale."

Wrong! Vibrio vulnificus causes an infection often incurred after eating seafood, especially oysters; it is ALSO caused by having an open wound exposed to seawater. They are, however, mutually exclusive.

Don't worry, you can eat all the seafood you want.
