If you know that you have healthy gums than the bleeding of the gums when you floss is okay. I never had a cavity in my life. I have healthy teeth. The bleeding of the gums is just the gums pushing back when you floss them. It is actually healthy for you to floss your teeth. Use a toothpick or during the day. Just wash your hands and massage your gums when you get a chance. Its okay. Just make sure you are flossing the right way and not flossing to hard.

Bleeding Gums When Brushing, Flossing, or Eathing:
Normal gums do not bleed when you brush, floss, or eat (unless you have recently began brushing or flossing). If bleeding continues, you have either gingivitis (early gum disease with no bone loss yet) or periodontitis (more advanced gum disease with bone loss).
Treatment:
Visit your Dentist or Hygienist or both. You likely require a combination of teeth cleaning, root planing, and a major modification to your home-care techniques. Once all the tartar ( the hard deposits of calcium salts and bacteria on your teeth) has been removed from your root surfaces and you are keeping all the plaque (the soft film of food particles and bacteria) from your teeth through modified home-care techniques, all bleeding will cease.

I was formally a dental assistant. Your gums are bleeding because maybe you have disease of the gum. If you are flossing you have cut your gums to make them bleed. If you have a hard bristle brush you are brushing to hard. Here is the solution: Make a dentist appt. immediately. Purchase a medium toothbrush. Rinse mouth out with Peroxide. Stop Flossing. Everytime you eat something rinse mouth out with water. Before you go to bed rinse mouth out with half glass of warm water mixed with 3 tablespoon of vinegar. Man, make that appointment.

Bleeding gums are not a good sign. Go see your dentist.
Maybe you're flossing too hard. Maybe not, but you'll know more after a doctor visit.

Hey, increase your Vitamin C too. That should help with the gums. and use a water pik for a while instead of flossing until they get strong again.

Its not to uncommon for gums to bleed when you floss. Maybe you are flossing too hard? It might also be a sign of gum disease. Listerine.

I find that happens to me too. If you gently brush your gums everytime you brush it should go away. Theres no need to go seek professional help. You just need to make sure you are keeping your gums healthy

I would definitely go see the dentist for an exam and cleaning if its been a while you might have gingivitis or periodontal gum disease.
