I bought two 3-4 months old seberian huskies. One female and one male. I have had them for 3 days so far.

My male dog seems to always be scratching himself. I have read that most seberian huskies do not get fleas or ticks since they keep their selves clean. So why would my huskie be scratching him self alot? Is this normal or might he have ticks/fleas. If so how am I suppose to check?

Another question.. Both my dogs seem to like the water so I thought it would be easy to give them a shower. When it came time to shower them, they started getting crazy and nervous. Specialy the male he started jumping around, making wierd noises, and barking. What is the best approach I can do to give them a shower next time?

I have a Siberian Husky and them not getting fleas dont bet on that. My Husky got a bad case of fleas on him and had a allergic reaction to it and she dug all her hair off her back from scratching and biting so she is on frontline now . So yes they get fleas and its awful because they have so much hair its hard to find them on them .
My husky hates water lol. She knows when its bathtime she runs and hides and I have more water on me time we are done then her lol. But it has to be done .

I have a 9 yr.old female husky. She does get fleas. She doesn't seem to scratch as much as my other dogs though. But I still use Frontline on her.
As for the water, she has always loved to put her feet in water. She's an outside dog & during the summer I can't keep her feet out of the water bowl. But she hates to take a bath. I have to literally pull or carry her to the tub. Once she's in there I can keep her pretty calm by talking to her in a gentle voice. Wash her face last because that's what they seem to hate the most. Learn to give a bath as quickly as possible. The shorter they are in there the better it is.

1. Have a vet check your dogs for any health problems, and particularly their skin. The dogs could have fleas, dry skin, allergies, or a host of other problems. Also, start using Advantix or another spot on flea treatment ASAP.

2. Huskies hate water. Huskies hate water even more when it's sprayed at them. As a groomer, huskies are a nightmare. Unless they are dirty and need a bath, spare them from the stress that bathing causes. It may be best to take them to a professional groomer when the time comes, as they are more experienced in dealing with difficult cases and can get the dogs bathed with the least amount of stress.

Siberian huskies are just as prone to fleas as any other breed of dog, you can check for fleas by looking in the dogs armpits, belly, and ear area.. if you see any black or reddish looking "dirt" like stuff or any red-brown fleas then your dog has fleas. Huskies generally dont like water, they have thick double coats which become heavy when wet, thus huskies are usually not water dogs. Also you dont give a dog a shower, but you can use a detachable shower head to bathe them in the tub, or simply a cup to rinse them with water I find any spraying water makes them more nervous and it it better to use a cup. Make sure to give the dogs treats and praise and talk calmly to them while bathing them. They will probably never enjoy a bath but they will tolerate it, keep in mind a dog should only be bathed at the most once a month.... bathing is normally unnecessary as the coat sheds dirt. Also, it is not uncommon for a dog of this breed to groom itself carefully in much the same way one might expect of cats. Well and healthy Siberians have little odor.

PS most of the time it is wise to let your Sibe bathe themselves, they are clean dogs and really only probably need a bath once a year if that.

Get some Advantage and Frontline for the fleas. Any dog can have fleas.

When it comes to bathing the dogs make sure that you do not get soap in their eyes and water in their face. Each time you bath the dog he will trust you more if he does not suffer or get scared.
