Dogs chew because of frustration, boredom, etc. Do you give him/her things to chew on like rawhide bones. Is the dog left in the house alone for long periods of time? Do you spend time with the dog walking it or playing with it to get some of it's pent up energy worked out? Corgi's are herding/working dogs and like most herding/working dogs are smart and get frustrated easily if they don't have something to keep their mind occupied. There are magazines about Corgi's that you can pick up at your local bookstore or pet store that will give you some ideas what to do to lessen your dogs' frustration and boredom. Corgi's are great little dogs with lots of spirit and smarts, just a little bit of your time may solve the problem. Good luck.

There are a number of reasons corgis' chew, Mostly from frustration from not having enough exercise. These dogs need to be stimulated emotionally and p;hysically.
1st: take her for walks and a lot of them, High energy dogs like corgis need a lot of exercise and it will calm her mentally.
2nd: sometimes these small dogs need a place to call their own.
give her a box to lay in or a carrier. they like to feel closed in. so make sure it is just small enough for her to lay in and maybe turn around. but not big enough to walk around in.
3rd. get her some toys, Chew toys stimulate their minds and keep them occupied when you are too busy to pay attention to them.
4th Play with her, she may be chewing for revenge. think about it, if you lived with someone that wasn't paying any attention to you, what would you do?
5th: Don't use chemicals to discourage this behavior, it may make her stop chewing on the wood but will only drive her to chew your shoes or tear up your bedding. You need to find out Why she chews. and it is probably that you are not taking the pack leaders place.

Try the bitter apple spray from a pet store. Also lemon juice has worked for me in the past. If that doesnt work, try to get him a teething ring for dogs. They have them at most pet stores and the ones you freeze are the best. They tend to fascinate the dogs and keep them busy. Hope that helps.

mix up some cayanne pepper in a liquid form and spray on wood to see if it works or perhaps jalapeno juice-- eventually you will find the right mixture

We loved ours but he would chew the cabinets and chairs. Finally we realized he could not be happy in our home. We gave him to a friend who had a fenced in yard. Good Luck!

there is a product called bitter apple. you can apply this to most surfaces. It is sold in most pet stores, it tastes aweful to the dog and he will not want it in his mouth.
