Wow. This is about the toughest question I've seen on here and I'm sure I'm not qualified to answer it, although I will leave you with a thought. Not one of us on this planet is perfect, so we all make mistakes in degrees, some major and some minor. That being said, just remember that in order to beg forgiveness in life, you must be willing to forgive. Understand that you can forgive a person from your heart without any physical involvement, that choice is yours. Also, understand that forgiving someone is no guarantee that you'll ever forget the pain. I've learned that I've grown strong enough to forgive, and that makes a good starting point for me. Forgetting is something I haven't conquered, so I guess it has become a permanent character defect. See, I told you not one of us is perfect!

You can never forget them, it is a part of your history. Forgiving may be possible, depending on the circumstances. Human as we are, we learn to expect what has already been shown us to be true. I think both parties will have a hard time getting by what happened previously, both constantly reminded of "what was." To have any chance at all, I think both people would have to be in counseling and attend meetings regularly for as long as it takes to mend things. AA for the addicted, AlAnon for the partner.

An addiction is an addiction...tought to overcome, very tough. So if he got help and is clean clear the slate at least 90% anyway. It not that you can't forgive...you can't forget and that's normal. From here on everything has changed...you can't forget and find it hard to trust...it will just take time. You can see them, you don't have to live with them. Take it a day at a time as they say. If you can't do that then tell them.

If there is love. Love can conquer all demons. It is a heavy commitment to love an addict and a challenge at times. Both parties have to be committed to one another and love one another. It is hard to forgive someone when they cause you pain. The heart has to be willing but takes time. You can never forget someone you have truly loved. You must follow your heart but remember if drugs destroyed things once they can do it again.good luck and God bless

I can possibly forgive but never forget....
Taking them back into my life would truly depend on how much damage has already been caused......

I would never EVER date anyone with a drug problem..or uses drugs...period.
I suppose if it happened after the fact - I'd give him a second chance...but that would be it. He could ruin his life, but not mine.

I think that depends on how much pain he caused you, and if you think he deserves another chance. Do you think you can trust him again? Forgiving him is a noble thing to do.

screw em. not to sound harsh, but hell it wasn't your fault. trust me. your ex probably knows it was their own fault. my friend and his ex wife div. 6mths ago, and he even says it's his fault. he dosen't hold any grudges and says he dosen't blame her. So move on and enjoy life. If drugs were envolved then you've seen how bad things can get. NO WORRIES!!! LIVE IT UP!!!!
