Online dating has pros and cons. You didn't indicate whether you exchanged pictures. I have spoken to several gentlemen whom indicated that the biggest problem they encounter with online dating is women not being honest about their age/weight. Did you have an up to date picture of yourself? Was there anything on that date that may have come to a surprize to him?
Sometimes, conversation on the phone is great and one tends to conjure a mental image of the other person based on their voice and content of the conversations. Perhaps he did this and when the real meeting occurred, it wasn't congruent with his mental iimage of you. Have you had any contact since? How did the meeting end? You would be well within your boundaries to send a quick email thanking him for the date and asking why there has been no further contact. It wouldn't hurt. This way, you are not putting him on the spot where he has to actually speak to you. It may be easier for him to be honest with you. You may or may not like the answer you receive but at least you will not be "left hanging". Either way, maintain a professional demeanor and thank him for his honesty. You may be surprized and find out that it is not your fault at all. Maybe something has come up in his life ie: sickness of self or relative etc. It could be something simple like you wore too much makeup and he is not a fan of makeup. Who knows, every person's perception is different. Don't give up on the online dating if you have a bad experience. You may have to kiss a lot of toads before you meet a prince ... if you don't put yourself out there, you may miss out on an opportunity. To avoid this situation in the future, discuss with the potential date (prior to meeting) that in the event there is no interest, both of you will have the courtesy to be honest with one another so you are both clear. Clearly, now that he met you, he is not interested anymore. Don't lose sleep over it. Some people can be picky over everything when looking for a partner. It could have been anything about you that he might not like. It would very silly of you to blame yourself for him not calling. Every man has a different taste on women. When I was in middleschool I met a girl that hated the taste of chocolate. There you see, chocolate is not for everybody. Try dating someone new.

Sometimes people, males especially, will say whatever they think you want to hear on line or on the phone in order to get into your pants. Yes it sounds crass but it is true. The guy either did not like your look or chickened out about starting a real relationship. There are too many other fish in the sea to get very upset about this one. You have to realize that it is his loss. Have a good cry and a half gallon of icecream and get on with your life.

I don't trust the Internet to meet people!
Maybe he was expecting an easy girl and you weren't like that.
I've had a lot of friends and family members who go on this dates with people from the net but it never ends in a good way because they find the real personalities, so you were lucky.
