Looking at what happened in Missouri and St. Louis why are people so desparate to have children they're willing to kill another human being to get a child? What is this the 1800s? Do you REALLY need a child to survive in today's America unless you live in farm or in a very rural area of the country? This is absolutely insane!! Also is why is it women who always commit these crimes?

I can see someone killing over shelter, food and clothing it is just basic survival needs. But a child? *sigh*

when something like that happens its usually a result of someone either having lost a baby or are not able to have a baby and they run out of options there is also a mental illness that happens to these people just like the moms or dads that kill their children

In the news report over this, they said that it is usually a woman who has recently lost an infant, either just before (miscarriage) or just after birth. The grief over the loss makes them feel compelled to "replace" their babies, and they will do so by any means necessary.
The report also said this can happen with women who are infertile, and they will fake a pregnancy (to their friends and family) before taking a child.
Now, this of course does not happen to all women. And it has nothing to do with society's demands on them to have children. It just has to do with the fragility of the human psyche and the fact that some people are predisposed to have things like this affect them in an EXTREMELY negative way.

I don't think anyone who can and would kill someone is mental stable. I'm sure there is some mental problem with the woman who did that. It is nature however for a woman to want children. It's not just an american thing.

I found out when I was pregnant that almost 60% of women that are killed were pregnant, and when I was pregnant I was so scared cause I thought someone would want to cut my baby out.
I was more worried when I got into 8 months, but it is really scary when people are so insane that they would kill a mother of her child.
This world is scaring me more and more everyday!

Post partum depression and Post Partum Psychosis are very serious illnesses, and unless someone has suffered with that it is hard to understand. Last month I lost a baby girl at 21 weeks gestation and luckily I recognized that I had PPD and I got help for it, but some women just snap.

I think there is absolutely NO reason to kill at all. Especially over an innocent life. I think it's due to women not seeking out for help in time. Also, they may be depressed and/or desperate.

Didn't that woman just lose a baby when she did that? She was suffering from severe mental illness I'm sure because nobody in their right mind would do something like that.

hey dirtbag. a man in LA. stabbed his toddler daughter in the head with a knife, A KNIFE!
because most of want our genes to carry on, to bad your parents didnt feel the way you do about not having kids
PPD has nothing to do with the women who killed and hurt those women who had their babies stolen
duchy that number reflects the number of women who will be killed by a boyfriend or husband or ex not strangers or friends

Woman think they can get away w/ things and blame it on there hormones. Which to me is bullcrap. I am a woman and have hormone rages but, damn! I just scream at my husband about leaving the toliet seat up, I wouldn't go crazy.
