No. As much as I recommend Sony as my first choice, the TV you're considering is already at least 4 years old (half the average life span). It would be in your best interest to get a new TV for a similar price. Here's a couple good examples...

Sony KDF-55E2000 55" LCD Rear Projection TV (from $1,275.95)

Sony KDF-50E2000 50" LCD Projection TV (from $1,199.00)

Sony Grand WEGA 42" LCD Projection TV (from $1,129.00)

If you buy new, you get a new warranty and more longevity -is that worth a couple hundred dollars to you? That is a question only you can answer for yourself.

Sony's' are overpriced. Go with any other good brand say Hitachi, but wait until around Christmas when they have the sales. Or if holiday sales are slow, they'll be big bargains after.

buy a nice flat screen monitor for your pc and then spend $60 for a Catalyst Media Center video card from Best Buy. Snap in installation, one CD of files, and bingo HD flatscreen on call via your cable or antenna.
