If it is sealed.. you could keep it forever

As long as the bottle is unopened and the seal is in good condition then the whisky should last as long as you like. Once opened then oxidation takes place and will last about 3 or 4 years, some people like the flavour but others think it tastes flat, it's all down to personal taste. Finally don't go thinking that just because you have a cheap bottle of supermarket value whisky in the back of your cupboard for 20 years that you will have a 20 year old whisky, you wont.. the age of a whisky just refers to how long it has been in the barrel/cask before being bottled.

As long as you can resist opening the bottle. But keep in a dark cupboard as light can bleach the colour from whisky

A long time, I still have an unopened bottle of whiskey that is over thirty years old and I think I will save it for a little while longer.
