Back in 1990 I had a loved one in the Army. He also went on to Desert Storm. During his basic training, we didn't hear from him at all, he said it was part of the training. I think, now it has been many years, but we may have gotten one letter close to the end of training telling us he had not been allowed to write, can't remember. Once he was out of that, we started getting letters. Then there were times he would be too busy to write. Then once he got over there I would get regular letters for some time, then nothing then it would pick back up again. I hope this helps to ease your mind.

Don't panic just yet, that is a rough time for those guys. They barely have enough time to think, much less write letters home. Not sure about phone calls, they may not be allowed to or are out in the field and cannot.

My DH went to BCT there....I got one call that lasted about 2 minutes...just long enough to let me know he was there and safe. I think I got maybe a total of 3 letters the whole time he was there....

BCT is rather difficult....they are learning so many things...

Keep your chin up and keep writing him. Feel free to email me if you have any concerns...

I am military and yes that is normal. I think we didnt get to send out our letters until the second or third week BUT the mail is rediculously slow. It took my mom 3 weeks to get a letter I sent.

Very normal for boot camp. Usually about the fifth or sixth week he will get a few minutes to write. But no promise.

yes it is very normal..... when i went to basic training we were not allowed to use the phone but only 1 time in the middle of training for 3 minutes just to tell our loved ones that we were ok! and also he might havent gotten his address yet... it took me almost 3 weeks to be able to write my family. he might still be in reception (where they dont have an address) ...dont worry everything is ok!

Yes, it's normal. And if you continue your support for this man, consider it a way of life. Many heartaches and frustrations, but all very worth it. He's thinking about you - that's a certainty. In fact, thoughts of you are probably what are getting him through his days. Hang in there.
