Excellent Question!! I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Cheney and Rumsfeld hadn't told Bush about this incident. Apparently, they don't let him in on much of anything that's going on over there.

The truth is a bit startling. Also you don't expect the victim you're holding by the goolies to have the guts to come out with something like that.

The Taliban were allegedly told: "You can have a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs" I guess they chose the bombs and Pakistan got the message.

Maybe because some of his underlings said that without his authorization or he thinks that the world is just as stupid as he is to be manipulated. I do remember the US saying this before and during the Afghan war, and it wasn't just Pakistan that was threatened either.

He was "taken aback" because Pakistan has deployed 80, 000 of its troops, right after 9/11, to capture terrorists and they have at loss of THEIR own soldiers lives. Of the U.S. deployed troops to aid another nation fight its war and U.S. troops died wouldn't you feel bad.? You F#$%ING IDIOT
