Sure can feel like it, huh? But - it takes more life experience than what one has had (by 7th grade) to be ready and qualified to recognize and participate in an "in love" relationship. . .

Yes.
It's normal.
But true love only happens when you have more experience, and you love someone for who they are, not for what you think they are, or what you want them to be There are many mistaken steps on the path to adulthood. 7th grade is where most people actually start learning about these emotional things.
Short answer: Yes, you can be in love in the 7th grade. And yes, you can be heart-broken in the 7th grade. They come in the same package.
Welcome to the world of grown-ups. Have faith in yourself, care about others, and take the good with the bad.

Sometimes you can have really strong feelings for someone in the seventh grade but it's not the same kind of love that you might have at 18 or 20 or even 30. some people never are mature enough to really love someone else.

Yes, my first crush was in the 7th grade - her name was Joanna and I will never forget that. I never did talk to her even though I had several opportunities and I often wonder how my life would have turned out if I had (that was in '70).

Love as in committment, no, I am sure not. But love, as in a feeling, a new experience, a sense of being noticed, attractive to someone, maybe. This is puppy love, and don't be turned off at the phrase, a puppy is a "new" dog, and will be called a dog later when it grows up, but right now it is a puppy.
"Love", when it is grown up has all kinds of sentiments attached to it, "committment", "understanding", "trust", "compassion" and so on, but when it is new, it is more like a puppy, new and intriguing.
Allow yourself to "feel" emotions at this age, but please don't let those emotions control you at this age, there is so much more for you to learn, and learn to handle.
Good luck. And be sure to tell your "friend" to make sure everyone keeps their hands to themselves, love should NEVER mean sex, and vica-versa.

You can feel like you are then, but love changes as you get older. So you'll feel silly about it when you look back on it when you're older. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't feel good about being in love or liking someone now.
