I agree, they should spend more on charities, and stop asking people to send so much money in. The Bible says "It'll be easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the gates of Heaven" it seems all the TV evangelists seem to overlook this verse.

The good ones really do spend a whole lot of the money on the poor all over the world.
The problem as I see it is not the ones taking the money, but the ones giving the money! Why are people so gullible? Just because they yell "Praise God!" doesn't make them Christians. I wish people would do a bit of investigation ... a simple Google search will give them a good idea of what the ministry is like.

That is such a sweeping generalization. For example, Billy Graham spends very little money on himself. He has an independent firm that accounts for where all of the money he raises goes and the report is available to the public.
Yes, there have been some evangelists who have raised money only to acquire possessions for themselves. They will stand before God one day and give an accounting for how they used that money. We will also be held to account for how we give our money. We should put a little more effort into checking out a person or organization before giving--and give where the money is going to be used wisely--that's our responsibility.
Those who raise money and spend it on themselves are actually quite few in number compared to all the Christians raising money to care for people. There are many reputable organizations that use independent accounting firms and publish their financial reports for all to see. Some examples are "Food for the Hungry," "Compassion International," "World Vision," and "Samaritan's Purse."

Luke 10:7 "....for the laborer is worthy of his hire."
Timothy 5:18 " For the scripture saith, ( Deut. 25:4) Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his reward." ( {Lev.19:13; Deut. 24:14}; in 1Cor. 9:9, Paul argued from this Text the right of a Minister to be maintained by those to whom he Ministers.)
yes we should help the destitute but the poor will always be with us.

What do you mean? Where do you think they get the money in the first place? The Poor...They should raise the money from those who actually have it to spare and then, turn around and help the poor.

Do any of you people go to church? Thats what they do. The money they raise goes to food pantries, womens shelters, to help families in need, and the pastors have to support themselves and their families also. They have to keep the church running so they have electric, gas ,phone and other bills that have to be paid. Are churches supposed to be small and dumpy? When the congregation gets bigger, dont you think that they need a bigger building that they can worship in? Just like when your family gets bigger you buy a bigger house!

They should use the monies they raise for the purposes for which they said they were raising them.
If they say they are collecting monies for the poor, then they should use it for the truly poor.
If they say they are raising the money to pay for television or radio or internet to use as means of evangelism, then they should use the monies for those purposes.
If they say they are raising the money for a large building (such as a large fancy church) then they should use it for those purposes (such as the Crystal Cathedral).

You need to listen to Tony Campolo. He travels around the country preaching about helping the poor in Africa. He does not have his own church and he has already gone to Africa to build schools and shelters for the poor and homeless children.

The more people come to your church the bigger the building as to be. But that being said. Yes, I agree. They and everyone else should do everything within their power to help those who need help the most. And the people in churches do help.
