Getting a perm would be the easiest way to achieve the twisted look your going for. It would waste too much of your time to sit there and curl your hair for a hour. I'd say go for it! But keep in mind, that it's only if you want super curly hair. But if you want wavey? It'll still be very curly after you get your hair permed. But after a while it'll turn wavey. Good Luck

The best way to get curly hair, buy a diffuser attachment for your hair dryer, buy a curling mousse, garnier has a good one, and maybe even a little hair paste if you have flat, fine hair. After showering, turn head upside down and put in your product, blow dry. While you are blow drying, scrunch sections with your hand. This will put curl and body into your hair without spending a lot of money and with out doing something as permanent as well, a permanent.

If you want curl it would probably be the only way to go.
If you have healthy hair that had not been preveously colored or bleach the curl will turn out nice, but if you have dry, colored hair the curl will be weak and not look as nice.
A good curl line of products is MATRIX Curl Life, it is designed just for natural or permed curl.
Good Luck,
Stylist of 9 yrs.

NOOOOOO! DON'T GET A PERM!!!! Ok, when I was in fifth grade, im in 8th now, I wanted one of them light wavy hair look. I got a perm and it didn't turn out so good! My hair took it the wrong way and it poofed out like I got struck by lightning. DOn't think that it was the beautician, because it wasn't! She said it can happen to everyone. your hair can be really sensitive and you put that in it and it freaks out! So please don't get a perm! I couldn't get it out either because you have to wait three months till you can so your hair can get a break! SO PLEASE don't get a perm!

If you want it to last get a perm. But, sometimes people get sick of the perm and want their old hair back so use curling shampoos. I haven't uesd them but my friend does and they're great.

I don't know about the products out there, but if you want curly hair, you should get it done professionally, don't try it you self.

take a bath at nighttime and then french braid your hair. in case your hair would not carry curl properly (you'll understand this after experimenting a pair circumstances) attempt putting some gel in it before you b raid it. 2 braids furnish you with tighter curls than merely one. once you awaken, un-braid your hair and comb it out gently, ideally with a %. or moist-hair comb (one with massive tooth spread far aside). I attempt this for all time and it truly works tremendous.
