I live in a townhouse complax in Las Vegas, NV my folks don't have a back yard but we do have a balcony. My Mom planned to get a minature tree to put on the balcony, I was told by someone that mourning doves might build a nest in it. Hardly anyone goes out on the balcony except our 1 year old Pug who is out there 2 or 3 times a day.

But do you think that putting a minature tree on the balcony will attract mourning doves into using it as a nest site?

Also with the bird feeder idea, maybe you could put a birdbath, or a chair with a bowl of water on it, on the balcony. Just make sure its high enough so your pug doesn't drink out of it!

We have lots of tree's in our backyard, and I put seed out for the birds everyday. Several types of birds come to eat, including mourning doves. But the are very wary and have never made a nest anywhere in our yard or trees.

I doubt it VERY VERY much... I have mourning doves at my house(not a complex) but they will not come near the house only from a distance... I love mourning doves and give feed for them every day... But.. DO NOT COUNT on them nesting on the balcony

My 6 year old pug says that we put a wreath on our door and a pair of finches built a nest and hatched babies. They didn't seem to mind us using the door. Good luck with the dove tree!

It is possible, But I doubt that they will nest in it.
Maybe if you place a bird feeder out there as well you would have better luck.
