It's three years ago today my brother Ian passed away from a Heart Attack at 44.
He never drank or smoked , and was a keen Triathelite and surfer.
He complained of chest pain for over 21 months before he died .
A successful man in his field , and proud father of four girls and one boy.
He never went to the doctor .
So in honor of my brother I ask you .
Have you checked yourself out

I do get chest pain. My doctor said it was heartburn. No burn, just pain centered right over my heart. No tests were done and I have always wondered if he was right.

I'm also 44. I have it right now as a matter of fact.

A lot of people out there don't take matters like this one seriously and they should.
I suffered a heart attack 2 years ago and I never knew pain like that was possible, there's just no escaping it and no relief until it's over.
I do look after my health and it was due to a severe allergy I didn't know I had so it goes to show that even shock can cause it, not just heart disease or poor health.
You make a good point but many people are thinking about the here and now or think it will never happen to them.

I am sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear such a great loss in such an unexpected way!

Sounds like he really tried to work it out of his system rather than possibly face an operation and I don't blame him much with the way some doctors botch up.

You are right about preliminary check ups however many have a fear of what may be found!!!

Good advise and my prayers are for his family.

Yes.

I was getting pain across my chest and went for an ECG. The diagnoses was non specific chest pain cause by stress. So I lost weight, changed jobs and calmed down and it went away. I'm sure if I hadn't I would have been heading for a heart attack.

I didn't want to leave my wife a widow for the sake of my job. Life is for living.

God bless for trying to get the word out. It is shameful that people wait until its too late. As I type this, my cousin is working a night shift despite sever pains and fevers. His doctor thinks he may have appendicitis but he "can't miss a day of work"...

I've had chest pain for about 6 years. I've had SO many tests: chest x-rays, EKGs, ecocardio grams, blood tests, etc. Apparently it's Tietze syndrome (costochondritis). Very painful. I still think sometimes that it's my heart.
