I second Kaska's answer. Watch The Dog Whisperer, I've been practicing his methods with my dog and it really works, It's amazing how simple it is, it takes consistency, practice and patience.

He is board and over excited. It is also not getting enough exercise if he is doing this. I would suggest taking him for a very long walk like 45mins - 1 hour long. That will calm him down. Or it should! Which is what Cesar malon says to do. Good luck! Let us know how he turns out. Oh ya and be consistent. And always carry yourself as the dominate alpha leader. That helps too.

Train him to sit and stay. Nobody is allowed to give him attention until he sits calmly. Guests are instructed to ignore the dog until he's calm, them give him a treat when he's good. Or you can crate him while guests are over, but that's not the best for him. It's better if he learns. Don't get him excited when you get home from work or whatever. Make him do his command and stay for a moment. If he doesn't, ignore him until he does, then give him attention and a treat.

Get a water filled squirt bottle and tell him NO and squirt him when he jumps on people, then tell him to go lay down and tell your guests to not pet him AT ALL if he jumps on them, he will learn that jumping gets him nothing and will eventually stop. Make sure to reward him with lots of praise and treats and petting if he doesn't jump up.

Put him on a leash when people come and have him sit. Wait till things calm down before releasing him. Practice, practice, practice.

well his excited to see someone new.. does he react the same way when he see u ? if it does try lifting your knee up it will block him from jumping onto u and say'No' in a stern and firm voice .. it takes time to train him... it might hurt him a little but it is not cruel

when the dog jumps up, bend one of your legs so your knee is under him, not to hurt him, just to make him uncomfortable. he should get down.
