Adam mean Mankind and Eve means Life. We were tempted by life to posses the Knowledge of Good and Evil; knowledge only for the gods that no living creature can possess, including man. The gods predict that with Mankind deluded with the idea that we posses the knowledge of good and evil we would destroy ourselves by destroying the world around us. Every thing that helps man is good and anything against us is evil. All animals that eat our food is evil so we kill them: insects, wolves, lions coyotes, etc. We raid the earth of its materials because it is good for man and care nothing of the consequences. That is why the gods told Adam that if he ate of the tree he would surely die. When we ate of the tree we weren't kicked out by god, we believed that we had the knowledge of god and that we could do it all ourselves with out the help of god. And now we are on the path to death.

The story of Adam and Eve is a mythological story... the story is a simple lesson, try to follow closely...
It is a story intended to teach simple minded people that they should listen to God and obey God, or terrible things will happen...pass the basket.
If you teach someone to fear something, and at the same time offer a cure (salvation) you can then sell the cure in direct proportion to their fears.
Get it? Is that broken down enough for you?

To me it shows that Eve did not understand and appreciate that God only wanted what was good for his creation and that he had the absolute right to rule over all humans (including her). It also shows that Satan was able to lure her (awaken her selfish desires) through the use of her eyes. There were lots of other fruit trees that she could have eaten from without any ill effects. Another thing it says to me is that Adam loved Eve more than he loved God--a fatal consequence for all of us. Too bad he didn't just refuse to go against God and get another perfect woman from God.

Adam and Eve were told that they could enjoy the garden of Eden and eat any of the fruit they found there except for the fruit of one tree. That tree was pointed out to them and told that if they ate the fruit from that tree they would die. They were allowed to choose for themselves as eating the fruit would give them the knowledge of good and evil. Eve was tempted and decided that this would be good knowledge to have. She ate the fruit. Then she realized that she would be cast out of the garden and convinced Adam to eat the fruit also so that they could remain together. They has transgressed the law. They were cast out of the garden and fell 1. from the presence of God and 2. from the immortal state they were in to mortality.

The story of Adam and Eve.
Genesis2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it,for in that day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
This was spiritual death.
We are all born physically alive but spiritually dead. Romans 6:23.
Cut off from God.
Satan is smart he gets to people with ideas which is what happened with Eve .
She rejected the Lord's authority .
She became vulnerable to the fall by rejecting the authority which was designed to protect her,she cast aside the respect for the Lord and her husband divine and human authority and became entangled in the web of satan.
She was deceived by satan's flattery and the idea of being as smart as God.
Therefore her soul became arrogant and she took in satan's distortion of truth.
Once she took of the fruit and ate from the forbidden tree immediately she died spiritually and would physically die in the future.
Genesis 3:6 She offered the fruit to Adam and he knowing what he was doing ate of it.
He made the choice when faced with the prospect of perfection with God in the garden or spiritual death with Eve outside the "garden".
Adam knew exactly what he was doing he had not been deceived by satan into disobeying God as Eve had.
He ate of the fruit and aquired a depraved nature.
This brought in a new system they were no longer perfect and their contact with God which had been love now became justice.
In the Garden it was perfection .
The period after the garden was characterised by saving Grace!
The thing that carried man over the line from perfection to the need of saving Grace was not sin.
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then ,shall we continue in slavery to the old sin nature that grace may increase?
Sin brings man to the place where he needs condemnation and judgment.
God's Righteousness which never changes sees the sin and demands that man be condemned.
Justice condemns us immediately.
This action qualifies us for saving Grace it is performed by the justice of God not us.
Saving Grace is for the undeserving 'when we are condemned by God's justice we are undeserving, and we are in line for God's saving Grace.
God's justice, cursing precedes blessing.
God offers saving Grace to to those who need saving .
His son would never be sent to the Cross unnecessarily.
At the fall God immediately condemned Adam by imputing Adams original sin to his newly aquired sin nature,
resulting in his spiritual death.1 Corinthians 15:22

It is the story of the human condition vrs animal innocence. Adam and Eve were naked, naive, and lived in harmony with nature until they ate the fruit of knowledge (became human) and were no longer in harmony with God (nature) The moral being that by dominating the natural world, we loose our connection to it.

"Adam" means "mankind" in Hebrew. From there you should be able to figure out a few things about the story, like it is a METAPHOR and NOT a literal story.

Boy meets girl, do lunch, notice they're naked, leave town to start a family.
Nothing's changed, really.
