It's easy. You can buy earmite drops, preferably from the vet. Just drop the recommended number of drops into each ear for the recommended time.
Earmites are little tiny spider-like things and they are very irritating to the pet. Do take care of them.

Those over-the-counter drops are crap. Don't waste your money. FIrst, take your dog to the vet and confirm that it is ear mites and not an ear infection. Most people don't know how to tell the different and you won't make it any better by using the wrong treatment. Your vet will either prescribe a treatment (I like Acarexx) that you put in the ears, or Revolution (labeled for preventive, but also workd well as a treatment) that you put on the skin. The ears will be cleaned well to remove excess debris and mites. If it's NOT ear mites, but an ear infection, they will need to determine what the infection is from (bacteria or yeast) and which treatment will work best.

Well, first make sure it really is ear mites (your vet can do a microscopic exam). Other ear infections, like yeast and bacteria can be dark brown and itchy, too. There are ear mite medicines over the counter but they usually require several weeks to work. They will only kill adult mites, but in a couple of weeks eggs will hatch and you have to treat them again. Use a pet ear cleaner and fill up the ear with the cleaner, massage the base of the canal, then wipe out any was with a cotton ball. Don't push a q-tip down in the ear, it can injure it. You don't want to leave the black/brown wax and debris in the ear after the mites are dead, as it is a great place to grow a yeast or other infection.

my dog had ear mites and the ear mite drops did work, but it got rid of the mites, but it cause an infection.....
the best way is to get meds from the vet, i know it's more expensive but in the long run after trying all these different meds and trying to get rid of them you would have most likely spent more money.
Be safe and take them to the vet

well are you sure it's ear mites and not an ear infection? realistically you should take your pet to the vet. they will do an ear swab and if it's ear mites give you meds to treat with and same if its and ear infection. If this is a dog you are refering to, it is most likely and ear infection. cats are more likely to get ear mites than dogs.

Your veterinarian has a product called acarexx, or ivermectin. Store bought products dont generally work. They only clean out the ears, the earmites dont die. and your stuck with the problem later.
