Can someone tell me how to pronounce the French word mixte?

French speakers only, please.
Mixte is a kind of bicycle frame that looks somewhat like a woman's bike but has a set of bars that run from the rear wheel to the fork.

In French, "mixte" would be pronounced "MEExt", but normal US bicycle industry pronunciation is "MIX-ty."

I think it's MEEST. if it was mees-tay, there would be an accent over the e. The x is pronounced like an s.

Took French in high school.
