Im a bus driver as well. Honestly the best thing you can do is not let people get to you, and they will try to wind you up in many ways. Its all just water off a ducks back. That way you stay cool, calm and collected which improves your driving and customer service.

When ever i ride the bus, i like a bus driver who makes sure not to miss any of their stops if someone is at them and to (try to) be on time, and if people are about to miss, but are clearly wanting to catch the bus, stop for them anyways, or else it would get rather frustrating.
and of course, be courteous to the passangers, and they will be the same to you.

Well it would be nice if you would wait before you try to squeeze in between the cars parked on each side of the street to let me through.
The other day an ugly and mean bus driver pointed and was fussing at me through the windshield because I went through the parked traffic before she did and I got there first. Just because you are a bus driver and your vehicle is bigger than mine don't mean you need to be a road hog.

a good bus driver must know the route. other than that smile to people and be nice to them. ex: when they get in say good morning/afternoon. when they leave say bye or wtv. and the most important thing is, if you see someone running to catch the bus, don't just leave. stay a few more seconds to let them get in. little things like that can make peoples day.

I would think that being courteous, always having a smile on your face for everyone and helping those who need it would be good.
It has to be a tough job so I wouldn't let people get to me. I imagine they are worse on days with bad weather so prepare yourself ahead of time for that.
I am trying to be helpful here, I don't take the city bus. It really isn't too available here. Good Luck. Any time you have to deal with the public it can get tough.

well two things, I'm a regular bus patron, and two of the bus' regular bus drivers always say "good morning" and they'll genuinely mean it, and then when i get off they say " and you have a nice day now" and it makes me really happy... also i really dislike when they start driving before i sit down, and i smack my rear really hard on the seat.... haha
Most of the lady bus drivers are very big grumps

As with almost any job-give something of ourself into it. I mean don't just do the minimum. A few kind words, a little extra patience, whatever. YOU"LL be happier and you'll be better at what you do.
