why do so many who claim to follow a path of love seem to hate so much?

They only love what is just like them and have a tendency to hate anything different that might have a different idea of love. They hate change and new ideas. People with closed minds do this frequently.

You can differentiate a true Christian by his/her demeanor of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, meekness, temperance and faith. That is the fruit of the spirit....

I became acquainted with it when my father was dying of cancer. They have a 24 hour broadcast:
This is what the website says:
For over a decade we have been dedicated to drawing people into a deeper relationship with God through worship. Our signature television programming called Worship has touched millions of people’s lives..... Connecting individuals everywhere to His spirit and truth, and then to each other...

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

That is a contradictory question......if one can truly love, how can they possibly hate? And how do you judge between love and hate when the two use the same amount of emotional energy....the only other is indifference....when you do not care at all, either way.

Fine question.
I think it's because they don't truly understand (assuming you're talking about Christianity) what Jesus meant when he said "love your neighbor" and "love your enemies."

That means don't hate anyone. Christians are history's garbage cans and punching bags: violence, revenge, hatred MUST stop with the Christian. Anything less is falling short of what Jesus meant in the love commandment.

because as human we have a flaw, it's call sin. and as such we still do things that r wrong. but just because one hates does not mean that they can't love.
those who follow the path of love r not sinless, they just sin less
