I'm sure there is very few new things under the sun, but just to be made aware of the evil and atrocities that happen even right in your hometown is distressing and gripping to the soul. I feel pain when I read some of this crap. Who would kill a freaking baby? Or, molest a 4 year old? Jesus, man. What the hell is wrong with people? The stuff brings tears to my eyes. I also hate to see those starving kids on the Sally Struthers ad's. I've been to Iraq and Somalia, so I've seen real starving kids. It just hurts worse knowing you can't help ANY of them. At least when I was there, I could toss cases of MRE's and fruit from the chow hall out to the street people and kids. At least I KNEW hungry people would eat that day. If you give your hard earned money to these crooked causes, there's no telling where it goes to. I'm a sap, but I ain't no sucker. (sorry Jibba Jabba)

Honestly, I dont cry about them much anymore. You see, I look at this way. Kind of suprised things arent worse. What can you expect when half the country thinks that they get to define what is right or moral by what they like or want or agree with. If half the country wont accept that there is a God or a real standard of right and wrong, other then the ones they get to pick or make up, how can you hope to have anything but what we see now. I hate to say it, but it will only get worse. Dont beleive that? Simply look at a lot of the answers and opinions you get on here. That should tell you things will only get worse. So save the tears, for you will be empty when things really get bad.

I actively avoid the news because it is 98% negative things. you can't live your life like that. You as an individual should try to do what you can to help alleviate the pain of others, but not to the detriment of your own health and well-being. If you pay attention only to the news you end up with a mostly negative view of people( at least American news, I hear Canadian news is a bit more positive). So just go out and be a good person and right the wrongs that you can. and feel better.

All of the time. Anytime I see something especially about a child it just breaks my heart. I cannot imagine how God must feel when He looks down on His creations and witnesses man's inhumanity to man. I remember where I was on 9/11. My husband was home sick and I had just had my youngest daughter not long before. We turned on the T.V. in time to see the first plane hit, then the next, and finally the collapse of both towers. My husband and I both sat there in silence just Crying and reeling from the massive loss that took place that day. I feel the same thing when I see the devastation across the world. And like you, I just wish I could feed all those children and give each one a hug. Just to let them know that someone thinks they are special and worthy of love. God will have His say in the end and all shall be humbled. Those who are least on this earth will be first at His table.

I thought that I was the only 1 that cry when I read the newspaper(on line 2)!!listen to the news.I live in Indiana?(southwestern) and I've been following about the 3 infants that were killed in a hospital in Indianapolis, the hospital staff gave the infants the wrong blood thinner, which was for adults.(the blood thinners)then the E.Coil scare. I'm glad we (my family) don't eat spinach. Also I was just following a story from Lima,Ohio(on line) where a man was found guilty for stabbing his wife to death,he made in a statement he could not take her any more,he also told the courts this + his 12y/o step daughter.then his x~wife had a bomb found on her car somewhere.i cry when a person dies on my birthday, one of my family members b/day.their b/day the person that died or ever a holiday..example: Easter

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. The pain and suffering in the world hurts so bad some times I feel like I'm going crazy. I can't stop reading the news though. I feel like if I were the person who had these evil things happening to, I would want someone to hear about it. At least I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

I cried to many times, especially at the mayhem caused by American aggression. I remember at the beginning of the Iraqi war there was a man sitting among five or six coffins. He announced to the reporter that this is his family. At he beginning of the Afghan war, they showed a little baby in a body cast and a man whose face was so swollen from injury, he looked grotesque.

I was unable to cry over the pictures of the dead Lebanese children with pieces of shrapnel sticking out of their bodies. it was too "real" for me. it just turned my soul cold as ice.

There is no way we, as normal, everyday people can peacefully effect a change in the world. Altruism is weak compared to avarice. Too many people in power are fine with the destruction of hundreds of thousands of innocents, if the bottom line is good.
the problem is that violent revolution makes us as evil as the power mongers. We would be no better than they are.

It is so strange that people like Gandhi and MLK are revered for their greatness, then we pick up our guns and continue the killing.

We can choose to do something in our corner of the world. Even if we can't solve all the problems we can help from where we are to the extent our own resources allow us. If can't give money we can give some time to doing positive things. If more people did more in the way of giving their time maybe more would be accomplished in providing for the orphans and neglected of this world.

Wow! A kindred spirit! I cried so often while reading the paper that my husband just shook his head and asked me why I torture myself by reading it. One day, I decided he was right. I stopped reading the newspaper and watching the news about 6 months ago. I hate that I feel "out of the loop" and completely uninformed, but it's a small price to pay to save myself from the sleepless nights and tears over the corruption of the world.
