Racism is when someone calls the Mexican flag a "buzzard rag", its when an answerer calls himself Heinrich Himmler and other answerer's find it funny, it is when I see an entire race of people made fun of, their religious beliefs ridiculed, their entire way of life made a joke of. How would one distinguish who they are making fun of when half of the time they just say Mexicans or Beaners.. it should not apply to immigration.. immigration is a separate issue just like immigration is different from illegal immigration.

Racism, hatred because of the "race" a person is believed to belong to, is very strange. This is because there is only one race, the human one. The biological concept of races is not satisfied by any human groups. So what we are talking about is hatred based on cultural differences, and triggered by a persons appearance or behavior which causes the hater to classify them as a member of the cultural group he/she hates.
Dumb, no?
Now what's even dumber is the comment that "Those damned lazy Mexicans are stealing our jobs!"
The excuses being given for the immigration debate are that these people don't pay taxes so get services for free. It may be true in part, but is easy to remedy. I think that the immigration issue is more of a diversionary ploy by our elected employees which counts on racism among enough of the population to make it newsworthy, i.e. covering it sells air-time.

You specifically asked about racism on the immigration board. Americans often resent the illegal aliens being in our country & stretching our social services to their limits. Of course illegal aliens could be from anywhere; however, the fact remains that MOST of them are from Mexico. On the other hand, there are many Mexicans who are here legally, on green cards or visas. I don't think anybody here really hates ALL Mexicans. If they would go to the immigration dept & do things legally, there wouldn't be what your perceive as racism. It's more the crime of being an illegal alien they resent more than anything else.

I think "racism" means having an unjustified prejudice of another race- you don't create your opinions using facts, your instinct, etc. (In other words, you prejudge.) And, in today's "diversity friendly" society, very few people can be racist. Most people have been exposed to Whites, Asians, "Latinos", Blacks, Jews, etc. by the time they leave high school. It just so happens that the media's definition of "racism" is "White hatred of minorities." (ie. To them, the word minorities equals "non-Whites".)
Do I feel it applies to immigration? No. It just so happens that most illegals are from a "non-White" country. Thus, the race card is definitely going to be played.

Racism is applied to everything in all parts of the world ,some more or less , racism to me is being treated with disrespect because of skin color or language ,or because one has different ideals as the majority, is see an orange being taken away from an Hispanic child and placed in a white childs plate at school, is winning a spelling contest to find out you are not getting the price because you talked a bit too much in class ,while truth be the white child who came in second got it! Racism to me is being past for a job promotion because you are of different race, is being looked down at because you have 4 children , or you speak Spanish, or too dark, too much hair ,it seems to me Anglos are so phobic they seem to hate anything Spanish! They cannot forget that before they took over we were here in all parts of the new world ,first. And there is racism amongs us too, not as bad ,and I have noticed racism amongs blacks against mixed children , so you know in Nature the ants of the same color stick to-gether, is only us who mix ,cheat, lie and descriminate!

I think a general disrespect for others along with demeaning their culture. I think that illegal immigrants may be decent people, but they are breaking the law. I think something big needs to happen when it comes to our borders. However, there are some who are very demeaning in their, very much understood, anger toward the illegal immigration problem.

To me, racism is when you treat someone badly strictly because of their race. Legal immigrants have as much right to be here as any one of us. Illegal aliens are a different matter...not because I am a racist but because we don't need anyone here who's first act is an illegal entry. I believe they should send all ILLEGALS back and have them apply like they should have in the first place.

Well some people on this forum believe that if you love America and want all of our laws upheld, including immigration laws, you are a racist. Not so.
I don't hate Mexicans for being Mexican. I do loathe illegal immigrants who think they should be exempt from paying taxes and still expect every handout that the government has to offer. I hate anyone who thinks that they are above our laws and picks and chooses which laws they will or will not obey. If that makes me a racist, so be it.

It doesn't apply to immigration, illegal immigrant isn't a race. But right now just so happens that the biggest violators of immigration laws is Mexico and they let themselves be known as such. But even if your against Mexico it doesn't make you racist it means your against Mexico. If you said American illegal immigrant would that be a race. Last i checked American wasn't a race and neither is Mexican. The race card is being pulled to gain sympathy for law breakers and it's bullshit.

Racism is judging by race. Without knowing the person. Immigration built this country, yet some want it to stop.
