I know things look rough right now, but wanting to just leave and get away is not going to help, if only it was that simple. Talk to your mom let her know that by pushing and pushing this whole chruch thing on you isnt making you want to go , its making you want to run away from it more and more. Tell her you understand the rules and what to do and not what to do. And you will try to follow each thing as best as you can. But being human everyone is different, we can believe in the same things but react indifferent ways. Such as them telling you cant date till 16. Well its only making you want to date someone now, because you know you cant. Tell your mom that if she could possibly comparmize just a bit, than you wouldnt be wanting to just break all of these rules. Tell her that you want to date before 16, but you wont get into any thing serious. You will bring the guy over right away so they can met him and if they want they can met his parents too, knowing what type of guy he is. Tell them that you wont be alone with him at all in any cases, you will be either in school with him as well as your friends around and as well out of school you will only see him every other day or every other third day out of school. If you just look at what you want from having a boyfriend and make it so they relaize its not that big of a deal and you wont be doing anything behind there back than compermizing will help your situation. GOOD LUCK

Sweetie, there are reasons why you have rules in your life. They are to help you, not hurt you. And before you think I'm some old, been LDS my whole life mother of 5... guess what, I'm not. I'm a 25 year old convert from California. I wish I had those guidelines when I was your age. Then I wouldn't have messed up so much! Do you want to look like a hooker? I don't think so. So dress modestly. Who ever said dressing modestly meant you couldn't look cute? I do, thank you very much! And you shouldn't date until you are 16. Mainly because you just don't know what it's all about yet and 2ndly because hello.... do you really want his mom driving you around anyway? A car would be nice don't you think?
SIGH.... stop taking your gifted life for granted and try being grateful for the gospel in your life. Do I agree that 17 is garbage? No. But there will always be people like her who believe so. Let em' think whatever they want.
I know this may seem like a hard time, but it will pass and you'll look back on it and realize how silly you sound. Things could be SO much worse. So hang in there, ok? Living by the gospel is the best thing you can do in your life.

I don't know how old you are, but you said you are under 16. Well honey you are too young to date. I'm not saying don't have guy friends, but dating is definitly for those over 16. As for your problems with your church. When you are an adult then you can decide what religion you wish to join. If you feel so upset with your church's ways, speak to your parents. They were young once too, and I'm sure they will understand and maybe loosen up a bit on the control factor. Maybe let them know that you're seeking advice on the internet, instead of turning to them.

Hate to say it but you sound like a typical teenager. You want everything you can't have, think no one knows anything but you, want your freedom, all the good stuff. Trust me, we have all gone through it.
I am Mormon, went through the years where I though my parents were too controlling, that they didn't know anything...
Everything the church teaches is directly from the Lord and for our benefit and protection. God wouldn't give us any commandment or challenge He knew we coudln't handle.
Just hang in there...it will get better. It's hard being a teenager no matter what religion you live by.

I can sympathize. I am a Baptist and I went to a Christian school. We weren't allowed to wear pants, go to a move theater to see any movie, even a cartoon, couldn't play any board games that used dice or cards because those things are used for gambling, couldn't listen to any music that wasn't Christian, and I'm not talking about the kind of Christian music you hear today, I'm talking about piano & organ playing put you to sleep kind of music. We weren't suppose to date without a chaperone until we were 18. We were told if we went on a date we were suppose to keep a Bible between ourselves & the boy.... You get the idea.
I know what you're going through, but your parents are the boss & there's not much you can do about it. Just understand their way of life is very important to them, and you are very important to them too. They want what they think is best for you & as your parents they have the right to tell you what you can & can not do.
Mormons are a very strict religion, and you are at what adults consider to be a rebellious age. You are going to start having a mind of your own because kids will do that eventually. We can not wait until you learn to talk when you're babies, then when you do...... LOL!
Just hang in there, Sweetie. There's really nothing you can do. As far as waiting until you're 16 to date, that is reasonable, for any religion. Just be thankful it isn't 18.

Really that sucks, but there's not much you can do until you're 18 and move out. Sorry. Try to get involved with as many things as you can with people your own age.
You can hopefully see that better things are in store for you and in the meantime, be happy your family isn't worse. Mormons can be a little weird, but they generally have good intentions which is more than you can say for a lot of people.

Unfortunately you are in a cult that is all about control. You know better, but can't get out. I feel for you.
Just because it is a religion, doesn't always mean that it is right. try to bear with it until you are 18 years old.
You may want to choose a different religion that suits you better. Ah, the parents won't go for that. But you need somebody every day to talk to about this, just to keep your wits and vent the frustration.

I feel you because my Granny use to keep me in church atleast 8 days per week. Being forced into a certain way of life will only make you rebel. Your still young and as long as your under your moms roof you'll abide by her rules. Life is tough but it's all love.

If you don't feel like this religion is right for you, choose a different one. I mean, you'll totally have to wait until you get a little older, but you have freedom of religion. If your parents just don't agree, you're in a tight bind...but just try and keep it to yourself until you get older. If you can't, just talk to your parents. They love you, and they will understand.

At your age, no matter what religion or parents you have, you feel that everyone is trying to control you. Just slow down a bit and grow up. You will then see that everyone has your best interests at heart.
