Poker sites are VERY worried about bots and take every precaution to deal with them. Some people were caught using them a year ago and were banned and had their funds confiscated and returned to the people they played against.

The only site that uses bots is Pokertropolis. The other ones are VERY anti bots and do a number of things to avoid them.

A poker bot is software that will sit at an online poker table for you and play your cards. It is poker software which is designed to read the cards that you are dealt on you screen. Just your two hole cards and the five cards on the poker table if you want to use Texas Holdem as an example. It will calculate how many peopler are in the hand. What your best hand is and what your chances of winning with the cards for this round. It will also bet for you. If you purchase one of these bots it will violate the terms of service for the poker room. That means if you are caught you could be banned and have you money forfeited. I would not use a bot and I wouldn't be too concerned about playing against a poker bot.

Bots are computer programs designed to play perfect strategy during online play. Some people log in and then allow a bot to play for them with real money. But even with all the right moves these bots are not guaranteed to win, especially in no limit.

Personally, I would not worry about them. You are far more likely to lose your money to a good player than a computer program. Just play your game.

Just read the answers and I have always heard of a different definition of a bot: they're basically house players who manipulate the cards to their favour to take the money from unsuspecting players to the site. Now, I know this is very far-fetched and I'm sure that it's going to have a lot of backlash for me saying this, but what i've said are only theories from what I've heard. Check this site out. It's kinda like Roswell: if a bunch of strangers who don't know each other are all saying the same things, then something's up.

I'm pretty certain there are no 'real' bots out there capable of the claims their peddlars make for them.
