Hi,
This is because you should not run to antivirus programs at the same time.

It creates a huge heap of mess on your system, it would really slow the load up (boot time) of your computer and your Pc would spend more than as much time scanning. When a dubious file was found and they would both try to delete at the same time and could theoretically fail as they are both locking the file.

(Good choice with Kaspersky though!)

As a rule, pc users should only install one antivirus program. When you install more than 1 program, they will detect one another as viruses or other forms of malicious files. So, to avoid conflicts, you need to uninstall the old antivirus before installing a new one. This rule also applies to firewalls as well. However, you can install more than 1 anti-spyware application - in fact, security experts highly recommend using more than 1.

There is one exception to the rule about how many antivirus program you can installed at one time. You can install another antivirus program on a computer, which has already a antivirus program installed, if the second antivirus does not have real time protection. BitDefender free edition and Clamwin are 2 examples of antivirus programs without real time protection. They are commonly used as a secondary or backup program. Why would you want this? Because sometimes one antivirus program will miss a virus but it will be detected by another program.
