Have you called the local dog pound? Put up large posters on telephone poles, offering a reward? Have you searched for him at all?? Please do it now, that little guy won't last too long all alone out there..

Was the lock actually latched? If it was just hanging there, maybe someone (like a meter reader, or a curious child hearing barks) opened the gate and Chancey ran out. It could be that they both ran out but Girly came back or was caught and put back in, but the BoyBaby was too fast. I'd say your chances of finding him are excellent if you call the shelter within 24 hours.

It seems he was stolen or maybe depending on what kind of dog he is he could of snapped the leash and hit the lock hard enough it fell off.He would of left possibley by chasing a car,a mailman,a cat,a squirrel, etc.I have 3 bischaun frices. they are only about
9-10 inches tall and one snapped a steel leash in our pin then hit the door and the lock we have slide to lock and unlock he knocked the lock unlocked and ran away.we found him after 1 day.P.S. maybe set up a search partie then if you can't find him within 5 days to a week put a add in the paper and add a little reward.Thats all i can think of hope it helps.Oh and if it comes to it call the police and report him missing. Then question local residence if they saw anyone near your house during the time period you where gone.Good luck finding him.

Dog theft is a common occurrence. If you put the lock on the gate and it's on the ground with the gate closed someone more than likely stole him. Don't touch anything call the police and make a report. Go out and look for him if you have a photo of the dog give a copy of it to the police. Go around your neighbor hood and show the photo to others. Knock on doors and ask if anyone seen anyone suspicious hanging around the house or if they have seen your dog. Leave your name and number with them and have them call you if they see the dog or the person that was suspiciously hanging around your house or scoping out your dog pen.
P.S. don't forget to take your phone with you.

You may consider getting implants in your dogs if animal theft is prevalent in your neighbor hood.

There's something wrong with this picture and while not wanting to falsely accuse anyone of stealing.. I would suggest you do a police report stating him gone and put out an alert POSTER for, LOST PUPPY", with a photo if you have one.

Check with your neighbors and ask if they saw anyone at your Residence.

Call the Animal Shelter also to make sure they don't have him just in case he did get out of the yard...they dig holes, you know.

I really hope you find him. I'll pray.

Maybe you should be out looking for your puppy instead of on the computer asking a question no one will be able to answer with certainty.

Nobody can answer this. I would have to know everything before I can make a judgement.
