I own a Garmin Streetpilot i3, and have used the Garmin C320,
I have a Magellan handheld, but that doesn't have autorouting.

I prefer Garmin, not that I have tried them all, but I have researched all of the available units before I purchased mine.

The general concensus in most forums that I have read, is that Garmin has the edge. The units feel more sturdy then the Magellans, The interface is nice and easy to use. And most importantly, the routing software is preferred in the Garmin Units.

All Gps's probably work pretty good and get decent satellite reception, it's a matter of features, software and style that you may choose.

I say Garmin.

Well, I use a Road Atlas it fast enough for me. We do have a GPS on our boat, I use the Compass because it is fun, but, the GPS gives me an accurate position when there nothing but water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink. I would like to learn to use a sexton one day. I would assume most brands of GPS are reliable. What I would do is look for the features that you need personally.

Depends on how you'll use it. I have a Garmin GPSMAP 76CS. It's a great compromise if you need a handheld for camping, hiking, fishing, etc., as well as for highway use.

But it has some glitches.

All of them get their map info from the same company that does
Mapquest, Google MAps, Yahoo maps. And they have some serious errors in some cities.

I have the Garmin Streetpilot, its' a good portable unit...the only downfall I've found with it is that it was necessary to get the roof mounted antennae in order to get all of the satelites. it is the talking version.

I refuse to let myself become a brainless boob. I still use a map or Yahoo Map it. I still have a brain and will not let technology take over simple tasks, like finding my way to go.
