Yes people in the US can die of this too. We had a patient in our hospital that had an abscessed tooth that led to her death. I am only aware of this one person from last year, but there may be more than that - because of confidentiality laws people working in the hospital usually do not know everything about the patient and what started the problem - but only those things we need to know to do our jobs.

People have died from infection, and from blood poisoning. They told me it's what happened to my great grandfather. He pulled his own teeth with pliers & died a few days later. Of course, that was in about 1930 or so, and old country people like him didn't go to doctors much.

New technologies make it better. The hospital can not refuse any patient with this if u dont have dental insurance.

I don't know of anyone dying of this - but my grandfather contracted a serious case of meningitis from an abcessed tooth that had gone untreated.

In this country - with programs like Medicaid, there is no reason for it to occur.
