I see your point but you must also respect the fact that they have served and it may not be all that it is cracked up to be. There is anger in the military because if these particular soldiers did come back usually they know of a friend that didn't or if he did he is now in a military hospital. War is ugly and those that fight in them also get to know an ugly side of life that they probably wished afterwards that they didn't know. To wake up in the middle of the night with nightmares about what they saw isn't something a civilian wants to know. Until you have lived it you cannot know it. George Bush never knew it but yet he started it when the rest of the world said wait, he said for what? War is not a pretty picture, I have heard enough stories about it and watched enough Lou Dobbs nightly news shows to see pictures of the young lads that died in a war that could have been avoided. So now you know why that anger may exist, not towards you but towards the thought of starting something that could have been avoided. When you get up in the morning you go to work and usually come home to a nice supper but when you pick a fight with a guy in the car ahead of you and he thinks the same then you get out of the car and battle it out with words or a golf club when you could easily have made a right turn and avoid the situation altogether. Mr. Bush invaded two countries, Afghanistan and Iraq on insinuation that both had caused the 911 attacks, now we know that really neither did as most of the attackers were from other countries. Wouldn't you have cause to be angry? I am not even a citizen of the USA and it makes my blood boil. When an attacker is sought out for revenge that is one thing but to attack two other countries that had really no connection and then avoid the country that did is something else. Saudi Arabia had and still does have special treatment and maybe this is what bothers so many military people and other Arab and Muslim nations as well.

I think that a lot of military questions asked by "civilians" are very cliche. There is nothing wrong with a certain amount of this, but it seems like the military is always stereotyped and it seems like a lot is said about the military that is not true and people believe it all. I know some people act better because they are military but that's that person, not the entire military. I usually find that most answers that are rude are to questions that are rude or disrespectful. That to me is the worst thing, when someone asks a question about the military out of disrespect. My husband answered, and I agree, a lot of the sevicemembers don't agree with a lot of the things going on here and in other countries, but they understand the big picture. I think this particular question is open-minded, but most are not. Most are selfish and narrow-minded.

I'm an Army wife and I get quite upset by questions and answers on here often. Personally, I can tell you a few reasons. First and most important, you get people trying to answer the questions that have NO idea about military life. I realize everyone has the right to their opinion, but unless you're currently in or have be in, there's many things you know nothing about. The answers tend to not make sense or hurt the military. Second, there's many mean and insensative questions asked on here. The perfect example of this is Erudite. He claims to be prior military, but he always says hateful things about teh military, particularly the Marines. There's no excuse for things like that and him and others do it over and over and over. Yes, the military is strong and resilient, but it doesn't mean it doesn't bother you to hear negative over and over. Also, the military believes in what they're doing. This is an all volunteer military. You constantly read about pulling out or anti-war this or that. It's degrading and brings morale down. Maybe if more people took a tip from the military, they'd understand what's going on and what this war is about. That's also the third reason. People ask questions, but then tear our every answer apart. If you don't want to know, don't ask. There's always 2 sides to every story. If they're anti-war, for example, they'll praise people who agree with them, but won't even consider the other side even if it's based on facts that we, as military, know. Perhaps, when you see this anger, you should try to see why and understand it. It doesn't mean we're all angry, but it's frustrating being in this situation. Maybe, just maybe, you should read further into it to see what it's based on. You might find a new understanding and why it happens.
If you want links to questions that prove my points, I'd be more than happy to list them. Or, you could just scroll down the list and see for yourself.

A brief argument between Vice President Cheney and a senior Democratic senator led Cheney to utter a big-time obscenity on the Senate floor this week.
On Tuesday, Cheney, serving in his role as president of the Senate, appeared in the chamber for a photo session. A chance meeting with Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, became an argument about Cheney's ties to Halliburton Co., an international energy services corporation, and President Bush's judicial nominees. The exchange ended when Cheney offered some crass advice.
"**** yourself," said the man who is a heartbeat from the presidency.
Leahy's spokesman, David Carle, yesterday confirmed the brief but fierce exchange. "The vice president seemed to be taking personally the criticism that Senator Leahy and others have leveled against Halliburton's sole-source contracts in Iraq," Carle said.
As it happens, the exchange occurred on the same day the Senate passed legislation described as the "Defense of Decency Act" by 99 to 1.
Cheney's office did not deny that the phrase was uttered.

Some times how a question is for mated or stated will get a negative response. Think about what you want to and whom are you asking I know a lot of military myself being one of them are very protective and defensive over some statements ,which in most cases are not true we get offended when we are criticized with out fact or reason . We get real pissedoff when out and out lies are told about us . So ask your questions and be prepared for heated answers but make your questions based on fact not fiction thank you

I don't know what you asked, but there is a difference between having a differing opinion and just being an ***. Such as siding with the terrorist(which does not make sense unless you are a terrorist). Some people are still in high school and don't know how to act.

Marylandi is right. in case you ask questions which you be responsive to are stupid you're able to anticipate insulting or offended solutions from some people. Why ask stupid questions interior the 1st place? yet to be extra genuine, no question is stupid in case you word it interior the mind-blowing way. yet I do word that diverse people in this website have a unfavorable command of grammar and spelling. perchance that would be the reason besides. No offence meant.

That's because for them, they would see some of your questions (I myself have already seen some of them) precisely as any of the following: disrespectful to the military, insulting to them or their loved ones, and defeatist or simply negative and detrimental to their mission/job.
All you can do is explain yourself and tell them what you really are and what you really intended to know/gain from your questions. Misunderstandings only continue when you let them.
And consider yourself fortunate that I consider you as the least most disrespectful person here...at least when you're compared to guys like erudite who is probably the most hateful and treasonous person I have yet seen here.
