I am a single mom trying hard to make ends meet, I was recently asked if I would like to sell some stuff at a holiday bizarr the neighbor is having. I am an awesome cook and have been told this over and over, so I deceided to sell baked goods. My question is, since this is a holiday bizarr, what is the best way to sell the items?
Should I keep the price lower with plain packaging, Or fancy it up and charge a higher price?
See I don't have a whole lot to spend and if I am stuck with a bunch afterwards that could mean a very small x-mas for me and kids. This my first time and I would really appreciate some advice, what you folks buy or have bought in the past? Thank you and GOD bless

Go to this website called
www.nashvillewraps.com
they have some really cool cookie, candy etc wrapping and a real inexpensive price. Check out their clearance specials. You can also use it for your regular Christmas wrapping too. As a matter of fact, you might want to give homemade food as gifts this year. With people working all the time, they don't have time for such treats!

Ok, Here's my advice. Stick to plain packaging and offer samples. You know if people taste the goodies you make they will buy them. Offer up small samples and let it go at that. You don't want to put too much money into it and not have enough for the holiday's with your family. If the goodies are good, the packaging wont matter. People will buy it for the reason they should, a super cook, and a great recipe! Good luck and best wishes!

Go for fancy. People eat with their eyes first. Go to Dollar store and pick up some paper dollies. Then check out if they have cellophane paper or bags. I did this for my customers one Christmas( i was sort on money too). I had one Lady also cry!!! She thought the cookies were great and it's all in presentation. The better the presentation the more they will pay. Good Luck.

i think plain packaging, not because its cheap but because if done right plain packaging can look chic. I mean plain brown wrapping and maybe some rope type string or colored paper string. It could look really nice without costing a bundle. Sometimes the simpler the packaging the more appealing it looks. Try it out. ;)

I say keep the packaging simple in order to play up the "home-made" appeal of it. If people want "professional" baked goods, they'd rather go to a bakery.

Plain packaging.......If possible dress up the package with cheap ribbon or bows from the dollar store.

Plain & simple!!!
That says HOMEMADE (& that's what yer all about Eh?)
If I had to choose; My pick would be the paper "Wraped"
(hardware store. $10.00 for a 100ft roll)
over the clunky box ANYDAY!!

How about a little of both, i.e. sturdy paper plates wrapped with colored cellophane wrap and a ribbon.
