On 28 August 1965, Fred DeLuca and Peter Buck opened their first location in Bridgeport, Connecticut as a stand at the University of Bridgeport[citation needed] and named it "Pete's Super Submarines".[1] Soon thereafter the name was changed to "Pete's Subway" and then to "Subway".

The first restaurant was in a NY subway station, hence the name Subway. I like Quiznos
