I feel that it shouldn't be restricted, it should be an option. Your tax dollars should be used as you see fit. If you WANT to send your child to a religious/private school, you should be able to, with the tax money that you are entitled to, for educating your child. There has got to be something better than these terrible, frightening public schools.

No matter what anyones religion is, he/she should at least be given a few minutes of silence at the start of each school day to either pray silently, or just sit quietly. Not all religions support such a thing, however, it worked for many years with NO problems! That is, before the yuppies came along and started making everyones decisions for them. Oh, I'm sorry, I used the dang "yuppie" word again. Oh well, I do believe that statement falls under the "freedom of speech" act somewhere! Anyway, other than atheists, I do believe that all religions believe in some form of a higher power than themselves, and all have their own ways of communicating with that higher power. It worked well when I was in school over 40 years ago, and we didn't have the problems with kids like they do now.

Do you mean the schools should be restricted from promoting the practice of a particular religion? In that case the answer is yes.
Or do you mean that students should be restricted from practicing articles of their faith even though it does not interfere with normal classroom activities? Then the answer is no.
To put it very simply, the teacher should not make the class pray anytime, but a student should be prevented from praying silently during his study time.

Sure, the kids are not there to learn their/somebody else's religion. You teach your kids your own religion and go to the church on Sunday, right?
Would you as, say, a baptist, want your kid to be learning how to be a catholic, or the other way around? I think not!
