No, that's terrible. Find a good home for him where he can be a dog and have a good life. Would you want to live in a cage?

I have huskies and one has to be crated most of the time. When we are home and can watch her we let her out but if we leave in the cage she goes. She actually like it though, it's like her house. We keep the cage in the livving room so she can still be with us and we just leave the door open and when she gets tired she will just walk right in and go to sleep. Don't think it's cruel to cage your dog. Huskies are very destructive dogs and needs to watched. As long as you train him early he will be comfortable with it. Just make sure he's not left for really long periods of time and you might want to consider a water bottle like you put on rabbit cages so while he's in there he can still have some water. But get the largest size.

Don't listen to the person who told you that breeders say to keep them cage up! I know that breeders do but they keep their dogs in Kennels with GOOD SIZE RUNS so they can get plenty of exercise. The breed of puppy you have they need a lot of room to run and play for them to be healthy and strong and happy. Do not keep him locked up in cage. Put him in a pen that measure 8 feet by 10 feet or 10/12 or bigger so he has room to move around. The breeders don't care that much about the dogs they have it's only the money they are interested in getting another litter of babies to sell. just remember that you're puppy is just a baby. If you keep him in a cage all the time he could come down with all kinds of illness's from being in he own waste all that time IT IS NOT HEALTHY for him!!!!!

It's perfectly OK to kennel your dog when you are not home or sleeping or any other time you cannot watch him. It's safer for him and for your stuff. Plus it teaches him that it's OK to have alone timeand shows him he has a safe place to go that is only his place. I recommend that ALL dogs be crate trained until they have learned to behave in the home. Some dogs always need to be crated when left alone, but most figure it out and can stay out eventually. Make sure he is comfortable and doesn't have to potty when you put him in there. Also, he shouldn't be kenneled when you are home and can watch him. He should participate as a member of the family and you should train him not to be destructive during those times. He should have lots of appropriate chew toys and get exercise, either by running in a yard, or long leash walks.

Do you mean he's caged all the time, or just while you're out? It's fine to cage him for a while, while you're out, but not the whole time. See the answer to the question about the GSD being left alone for ideas on training and keeping him amused. Bear in mind he's just a puppy, and will want plenty to chew on, and he doesn't know yet what he can chew, and what he can't.

Huskies like to roam. And, they need to be with a 'pack'.
It is better not to cage him. Try to find a obedience or dog training class for both of you.

Yes, it is more than ok. Most breeders recommend it. Not only for the safety of the dog but your peace of mind as well. Once they are used to being in the crate it becomes their den. You will notice they will just go and lay in. Even at 4 months old they say to crate the dog even if your home just not with the dog, as in the same room or can give him your full undivided attention. Just never use the crate to punish him for something done wrong. All three of my dogs are crate trained. And two of my three cats are too.

Dogs don't need to be caged for long periods of time except at night when they sleep. They need to run and stretch and move around. How would you like to be confined to such a small spot 20 hours a day????

it is fine as long as the cage is big enough. We cage most of our dogs at night. If it is caged during the day make sure there is plenty of cold water and shade. otherwize the dog could have a heat stroke. DON'T LISTEN TO THE NUTS THAT ARE TELLIN YOU TO GET RID OF HIM ABVIOUSLY YOU CARE ABOUT IT OR YOU WOULDN'T BE ASKIN PEOPLE ON THE NET.
