How do you get an abandonded title for a vehicle?

I bought the car from a friend it does not have a title its has been through several people as just a parts car, but i want to put it on the road but i cannot get in contact with the orignal owner. the title is clean on carfax.

Contact your state DMV for their procedures. Plan on several months to complete the process though.

Go to Your county court clerks' office. They will be able to help You.

Go to your local tag office they will tell you what to do. they did me with the same problem.
