Reps means repeats. So you'd do 8-12 (depending on how fit you are, you can gradually increase number) squats. Then you'd rest for 20-30 seconds. Then do that 1 or 2 more times, for a total of 2-3 sets. Same thing for the 15-20 reps 4 sets...except I'm assuming it's 15-20 sets and 4 reps. Do 15-20 squats, rest for a bit, then do the same thing 3 more times for a total of 4 reps. Hope this helps!

It means squat 8-12 times. Rest. Squat 8-12 times. Rest. Squat 8-12 times. That right there was 3 reps.

sets are how many times your going to do the same exercise and reps are how many times your going to do this exercise for that set. So basically, if you're doing squats, and your told to do 2 sets of 8 reps. You would do 8 squats, then rest for a minute or two and then do 1 more set of them.
Hope this helps.

reps...are how many you do..say you do 20 reps...that means everytime you go down and come up...that is one....you go down and come up 20 times...thats 20 reps
sets...are how many you do, in a period. Say you do 20 reps three times...taking a small break between reps...about 2 to 5 min...then come back and do another 20 reps...that would be two times...two sets...one more time that would be three sets...of 20 reps...hope i did well explaining....that is

Reps are how many times you squat.
and sets are how many times you repeat the reps.

If you do 15 sit-ups and stop, that's the repititions. If you rest, then do 15 more, that's two sets of 15 reps.
