Sickle cell stricks only African Americans. My husband has a disease that only Swedish people get.....it's in the genes.

Tay-Sachs is a genetic disease. It's simply a matter of certain peoples having that defective gene in a higher concentration than others.

The gene that causes this disease is more prevalent in this particular population - just as sickle cell disease is more common among black people (tho not exclusive to them) and just as hemophiliacs were more common among the royals (cause a prince could only marry a princess so they became more closely related).
