I'm here for you, licensed stylist of 9 yrs.

You need to take your stylist advise and leave the perm alone.

I once seen this girl get a perm and as her hair was under the cap processing it was melting off. She refussed to admitt she used store color on her hair even though we could tell she was coloring her hair. After she seen what a mess her hair was she finally came clean and admitted to using Balsom Hair Color from a drug store. Balsom is a metallic dye which does not go good w/ other chemicals at all. Well, the outcome was her leaving the salon w/ 1" of dry broken hair. I have a feeling if you get a perm you may turn out the same way.

You want to look good for prom, DON"T do a perm!!!!

Why don't you get a nice updo? You will look good and you will still have hair afterwards.

I don't understand why you wouldn't listen to your stylist advise in the first place, you must not trust her much.

You need to lay off the color and you already know "NO PERM"

Good Luck,
Stylist of 9 yrs.

Im a hairdresser and there is a few things you should know about why your stylist doesnt want to give you a perm. First off is it professional color, if it is then there shouldnt be a problem, if it is a home dye job then you will definatly have frizz and possibly broken hair. Seriously broken hair. Take her advice and do your prom style with a curling iron instead.

i use to work at a beauty supply house plese for the sake of you hair dont try to perm it that soon. go to a hair salon and they can make you hair look permed without the damage go to a good stylist not just super cuts for say. sometime doing too much can not only cause frizz but make some of your hair fall out. they also sell extensions or a real hair hairpiece that looks permed without all the work wallmart or sally beauty sells these they are on a clip like a hari clip e no fuse hardly any time to put them in but some arent real hair and will melt if you try to curl them with a curling iron make sure its real hair if you plan on curling it even more.these will stay in all day or all night for like a prom. you can take these to a hairstylist to work into your hair design for a prom dont risk one night to permantly damage your hair there are better solutions

you don't need to get a prom. if you want to have curly hair, then have mine... lol.

you don't need to have a perm if you want curly hair. you just have to get a hair curler or borrow a friend's hair curler. they are probley more expensive than a perm and don't last as long but if you put about 2 handfuls of sunsilk (the green and blue bottle) mousse on your hair after the individual curls, wait a while and scrunch it with your hand and then apply strong hair spray it should stay. if not, try it again because everybody stuffs up things sometimes on their first go.

Since your hair have been overprocessed I suggest that you deep condition your hair for at least 2 weeks before getting a light perm. the best conditioner I found is called lekair cholerstrol. leave on hair for 30 minutes and set under dryer it works wonders

Your cosmotologist is a professional and she is giving you good advice. Why do you choose to not take it? You can make an appointment to have her style your hair for the prom, but do not perm it...unless you want to have no hair at all.

If you think you will look gould with curly hair go ahead but if you would lokk good with wavy or straight hair, use a culing iron while getting ready for the prom

your hair won't just frizz... it will break off and leave you with terrible looking hair, its not worth it. get an up-do or some other sort of temporary style, if you have a good stylist your hair will not fall. perms are for long term styles, not a one night event.

WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT GET A PERM SOON AFTER DYEING YOUR HAIR IT WILL BREAK AND FALL OUT AND FEEL LIKE STRAW. BEEN THERE DONE THAT USE A CURLING IRON OR A SALON TO CURL AND FIX FOR THE PROM

If it's just for prom, I suggest just going and having someone at a salon curl it with rollers. I did it a few years ago for my prom, with spiral curls, and it held all night, and even still had curls the next morning.
