My theory is that because we look at ourselves from a different angle, usually straight down, any lumps and stuff are exaggerated. But when we are looking at other people we nearly always seeing them straight on and so they appear to look flatter than us.

For example, in an aerial photograph a field might look completely flat but if you were standing at the edge of the field looking across it, you would see the peaks and ditches.

Also, don't underestimate how much celebrity photograpghs are digitally 'touched-up'!

There are several factors: Age, genes, and psychology.
If you're middle age or a teen, the distribution of fat, may not be "ideal" ....But it seems that it's all in your mind. You claim you don't have an eating disorder...but it maybe a self-body image disorder...
But this is all speculation, did you talk to a doctor about how you feel? Do you eat right and excerise often? How did you find out your BMI?
I makes me wonder if you are having other issues...lonely? how are your relationships with family, friends, coworkers.....? In my experience, they are all interrelated....

Wear looser clothin and u will look slimer.
Dont look at yourself, just feel that u are in shape and everyone else will see that.

It's probably the clothes that aren't flattering on you.
