I am going to try the plain oatmeal, fruit and egg beaters (white) for a while. I always eat a healthy lunch and dinner.

well 5-6 days a week my breakfast consists of two of the following:

1) low fat fruit flavored yogurt
2) sardines
3) a medley of seasonal berries
4) oatmeal

the other day I usually go to Chik Filet and indulge in one of their chicken biscuits, with black coffee and fruit instead of hash browns.

When I lost 80 pounds, I religiously ate plain oatmeal and a grapefruit for breakfast. What a great idea to add egg whites. I have kept the weight off, but somewhere along the way, I went to coffee and toast and I sure don't feel as healthy. There is no energy in that. Thanks for the reminder to get back on to a healthier breakfast. BTW, for the ladies, did you know that kellogs raisan bran has more iron in it than a steak.

Here are five different breakfasts I like:

1. Protein Shake: 1 cup skim milk, 4 tablespoons protein powder, 1 cup berries, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup ice; combine ingredients, blend in blender until smooth.

2. A blueberry muffin, 8 oz nonfat plain yogurt, 1 cup berries, 1/2 cup low-fat granola.

3. 8 oz. cottage cheese 1%, 1 cup pineapple chunks in water, 4 slices whole wheat toast, 3 teaspoons pure fruit jam.

4. Mushroom omelet (saute mushrooms, chopped green onions, and chopped Roma tomato; add egg beaters and cook until set on bottom; add low fat cheddar cheese and fold omelet in half), 1 cup fresh strawberries, 8 oz. cottage cheese 1%.

5. Two whole wheat waffles, 1/2 banana, 4 tablespoons low sugar maple syrup, 8 oz. skim milk.

I eat a hearty breakfast - bacon eggs toast OJ. I work out hard, so I need the calories, fat, protein, etc.

It depends on what your workout program is.
