Raw fruits and vegetables. Make sure you drink plenty of water.

Well, you're only going to be fasting from dawn till dusk, right? So, it will mostly be a mental exercize for you; you have to tell your body "no, not now", when it starts whining about wanting to eat at certain times. I think you will be amazed at the willpower you will find in yourself, especially when your time of fasting is completed.

This is definately the time to cut junk food out of your life. Go with the whole grains, and natural fruits and veggies, and your kosher meats. Drink plenty of water during the day. Don't gorge yourself "before" and "after" the daily fast, because you can make yourself kind of ill doing that. Plus, your body won't get the exercise it needs of "doing without" for a time, so you will have defeated the purpose of the fast.

Good luck.

I would suggest you take carbohydrates food, a cup of hot milo and plain water during your meal in the morning. And during break fast time, I suggest you eat dates and drink milk for a start. Do not eat too much when breaking fast as this will 'frighten' your stomach after 'sleeping' the whole day.

Remember, you eat in the morning to give you energy throughout the day and not for the purpose of preventing you from feeling hungry, for God's sake. After a few days of fasting, you wont feel hungry like you used to have in the beginning of fasting.

I usually have a bowl of cereal and some fruit and lots of water, and don't worry if you get really stuffed in the morning because you won't get so hungry during the day then. I've tried eating other things for breakfast, but I think cereal does it. Ramadan Mubarak!

You need something filling..nothing will last all day though..you will get hungry and thirsty..but it is good feeling ... your body will get used to having nothing during day..i tell myself there are others that don't know when the next time they will eat or drink..i know i will,, when i break fast.. so that helps keep me going..Ramadan Mubarak

I feel for you, it was hard for me to start fasting Ramadan the first time.

I would recommend stocking up on grains, wheats, bread, pasta, etc. as that provides long-term energy for your body to use, which will be helpful the entire month.

Feel free to e-mail me or send me a message if you need more help or have more questions, I'll be glad to help.

I would suggest lots of carbohydrates, such as pasta or rice. When I know that I will be eating really late, I try to eat starchy foods - they help keep me going and I don't get as hungry so fast, as compared to vegetables or meats.

I would suggest fruits and vegetables and whole grain but with a focus on complex carbohydrates so it's less of a shock to your system.

Whole grain bread or pasta or rice, protein foods such as eggs or meats, and fresh fruits or vegetables

And don't forget to drink plenty of water. :)

Don't expect it to last all day, but your body will adjust, and you'll do fine.
