This sounds weird but try Gatorade. Two glasses are supposed to relieve a headache. I don't know about a migrane but it works with regular headaches. Sometimes the brain actually gets dehydrated. Gatorade helps replenish the electrolytes in the brain.

ok, seriously, I was EXACTLY like you until a year and a half ago. My longest migraine lasted two weeks also, I thought I was going to die, it sucks! But go to an accpuncturist. I went and I walked out of there with my migraine gone, that was the time i had it for 2 weeks. You'll probably have to get a series of treatments like I did, I would go every 10 days for about a month and a half. He'll also probably give you some chinese herbs to take every day, they help!!!! After my series of accupunture treatments my migraines were gone. Ever since then i get a few migraines, about 1 every 3 months, and the pain is NOTHING compared to what it was before. That is heaven compared t0 2 migraines a week like i used to get.
Before i found accupunture i had gone to the doctor and they prescribed me medicine, it SUCKED. I felt worse after i took the medicine, lol, for real.
I really do advise you to look into seeing an accupuncturist, I am SO SO SO much better now. The only time i get a bad migraine now is when I'm under A LOT of stress, like when my mom passed away in february. But I went to my accupuncturist and got a treatment and walked out pain free.
Also in the meantime before you go to the accupuncturist, if you do, I recommend taking GelStat Migraine, it's natural medicine that you put under your tongue and leave there for a minute, then swallow it. That medicine is the BEST!!! Tylenol, Advil, Aspirin won't work, because they're not for migraines, a migraine is completely different than a headache. So don't even bother with those, because they really won't work. GelStat works in minutes, and depending on how bad the migraine is and how long you've had it for, u usually just need one dose and it'll be gone. It comes in a red box. That's all I use now. Accupunture and GelStat migraine, that's all you need,
Also, it'll help if you pay attention to what triggers your migraines. For me it was stress. Then sadly, :(, I noticed that when i would have a lot of milk chocolate i would get a migraine headache. That sucks because I LOVE chocolate, I was addcited to it, but now have to be careful and watch how much i eat. I would also start getting them right before my period. It turned out my menstrual problems were causing my migraines, I'm very irregular, VERY irregular. The accupuncturist helped with that to, he was actually treating me for irregular periods and not migraines, because i was getting migraines due to my menstrual problems. So if you experience that, that's what it may be also.
Remember, Accupuncture and GelStat! Hope this helps hon.

migraines my whole life.
Ok I've got it down to a science- (with MY body).
Certain things can trigger them (find your triggers)
Salt, chocolate, bananas, orange juice, smoke, perfume, stress, bad pillow, too much sun (no sun glasses) etc.... (I'm sure I have way more than most people) - sometime it is just too much of the above- and I can handle some of them for just awhile.
To get rid of them-
Excedrin Migraine - works great!
4 IB profin
dark room with soothing music and one of the above.
Chiropractic- if muscles are tight from stress in shoulders or back.
Last but not least - and really does work buy a massager- if you lay down in a rest-full place in the dark and massage your head - it kind of numbs it- but it numbs it long enough for medicine to take over and allows you muscles to relax.
This is just me...
Try keeping track of what you eat are subjected to leading up to the migraine.
25 years of symptoms...
Good luck --

I get the atypical migraines with the visual disturbances where I can't see out of one eye for a short time. I lay down after taking Advil for Migraines and that does the trick for me in about one half hour. If your migraines last as long as you say, you should check in with your doctor.

I suggest taking advil, but do see a doctor. A migraine isn't like regular headache, it's an actual condition. If they're so bad past the point of an occasional headache you should seriously consult your doctor. Unless you're getting answers from doctors, Yahoo Answers isn't the best place to look, go seek professional help.

I am the same age and have the same problem but my doc won't tell me if it's a migrant or not. I go to sleep and when I walk up the pain is lessened. Take and advil or Tylenol and drink FLATend coke. I get an upset stomach with my headaches so I do that so the bubbles don't have it worse. Try that. Or a mint helps too it may be sinus related and the smell may open your sinuses, just don't eat the mint if your stomach is upset!!! That will make it worse!!! Hope it helps!!

I used to get horrible pounding migraines that lasted3 days. Pain, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea. There are two things that workedfor me. One was to take an over-the counter pain med when I felt one was coming on, and the other is acupressure massage of the head and neck.
I know how ou suffer and I hope you find a solution soon

If it is a migrane you'll be sensitive to light and/or sound too. If this is the case - go to your doctor!! Get a RX for Imitrex or Maxalt. It'll be gone in about an hour.
In the mean time, make yourself like a mushroom - cool and dark! This is advice an emergency room doctor gave me and it works. Also, try one of those warm herbal packs you can put in the microwave. Place it over your forehead and eyes. You can try Advil Migrane too.
