Given global warming and the earth's rising temperatures, I'm starting to think Hell won't be so "hot" after all. A lot of us are already used to ridiculous/dangerous heat indices. So...why should we fear banishment to hell again?

While I do find it a tad amusing, I'm actually not trying to be funny here. Me theory is that once you get used to certain ways of living (like surviving 112 degrees heat indicies, for example), after a while it's just not that big a deal to you. So why wouldn't we all just get used to the heat in Hell to the point where it didn't affect us anymore?

We shouldn't fear banishment to hell anyways. Hell probably will not be hot because remember heat rises.

I like your question, but think about this. If there really is a hell, and it is in fact a place of burning torment.
Then does that make God a bully?.......Wouldn't that mean that what he is saying to us; you & I, all of us, is this:
Do what I say, or else I will burn and torture you forever!
To my understanding hell is eternal death, like sleep, never waking up, never having the opportunity to enjoy heaven. It's the only thing that makes sense to me because it says over and over in the bible that he loves me, even that he loves me like his own child, so why would he want to torture me, unless he is some demented monster?...and not a loving God?
So I wouldn't worry too much, this life is hellish enough, relax you will either die and be dead, and the bible says "the dead know nothing, see nothing, hear nothing", or you will be alive in a heavenly atmosphere; so it will probably be air-conditioned, or at least way comfortable!

I think you're kidding, but I'm not quite sure, so I'll answer.
Ever been burned? Well, think of that all over you're body. And even though there is fire, the Bible says there will be darkness, even just darkness is something everyone i afraid of, but with fire too? Not very pleasent. ANd since it's dark, you won't be there with your friends either, you'll be suffering all by yourself, no one to comfort you. And even worse, this is for all eternity, there's no light at the end of the tunnel, you won't ever come through it, or oay enough for your sins, you'll be there forever. Not a desireous thing. But the worst part... seperation frpm God.
This doesn't have to be your destiny, repent from your sin and trust Christ as your Saviour.

Hellfire can melt the coldest of metals, and destroy the brightest of angels.
Hellfire is not eternal as most churches teach, its fire is unquenchable, but not eternal.
When every person is alive,
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
The wicked will compass the golden city New Jerusalem and try to fight there way in. God will have no choice but to destroy them. if we are on the outside of the city we will die and never awake, we will be as if we never were. Of course the flame will torture us for awhile, to what our works require.

There is more to Life than just humanity. We have to realize that if we screw up everything, it isn't as though humans will just repopulate later. If we totally mess up the oceans or the soil, EVERYTHING dies. We have no idea how to predict when and how much CO2 is affecting our future, but we do know how bad it CAN get: It's called "Venus."
If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your money is your vote and your impact on the Earth, and the machines aren't counting.

Light a match and stick it to your finger, thats nothing compared to how HOT hell will be. Heat on earth is nothing compared to hell. I can't believe you a comparing a heatwave to a burning fire pit. Do you know how hot FIRE is? Obviously not. It's like comparing an itty bitty icecube to the polar icecap.

No, we shouldn't. Mostly because Hell doesn't exist.
If it DOES exist, though, then I'm sure Satan could make it plenty hot enough to hurt even people used to living in the tropics. I mean, the Sahara Desert is one thing, the event horizon of a black hole is another. Think millions of degrees celsius and you're getting there.

because the fire of hell is surely a metaphor for the torment one will feel when separated from God. It's not physical heat, but "spiritual." At least that's my interpretation.

Hell s an eternal, spiritual state of torment and absence from god's glory. THere is no getting used to it. Why fear it, eternity of pain and suffering versus eternity in heaven, content in the knowledge that God is all powerful, and loving. You tell me what sounds better.
