if u have really straight hair, then u should curl it at night, then sleep on it. it worked for my friend.

Use a large curling iron. Start at the root and curl a small section once around the barrel. Then move further down the length of your hair on that small section, just twisting it once around the iron and then letting go. Do not curl the ends-this is key-leave about hald an inch at the tips. Do this all over and see how you like it. My stylist taught me this trick the last time I saw her-I love it! I wanted waves as well, but she said there is no perm that won't give you curl. I used no product when I did this. I have long, straight hair. Good Luck!

i have the same situation as you!!! ok well what you do is get ur hair wet then towel dry it and then put in some curl cream stuff from bed head or any curl product will work and scrunch it then dry ur hair with a blow dryer but get a blowdryer sock or it will straighten it again and then keep scrunching it through out the day

ur hopeless, unless u get some kind of perm that curlys ur hair. If your hair is straight then it will stay straight.
Acid perms

Produce highly conditioned, flexible curls. They are ideally suited to hair that is fine, sensitive, fragile, damaged, or tinted, as they have a mildly acidic action that minimizes the risk of hair damage.

Alkaline perms

Alkaline perms give strong, firm curl results on normal and resistant hair.

Exothermic perms

Exothermic perms give bouncy, resilient curls. "Exothermic" refers to the gentle heat that is produced by the chemical reaction that occurs when the lotion is mixed. The heat allows the lotion to penetrate the hair cuticle, conditioning and strengthening the hair from inside as the lotion moulds the hair into its new shape.

you could try using a wave iron. i know you don't want to braid, but if you use a small amount of john frieda's ocean waves spray, then braid your hair, then go over each braid with a straightening iron. after they cool, take the braids out and tousle them with your fingers, do not brush.
